visit their brother and sister, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Groves, in Akron, Ohio.
They expect to be away two weeks.
Most farmers are through cutting
their grain and expect to thresh soon.
Miss Flora Stewart, who has spent
some weeks at her summer home
here, has returned to Toronto.

Presbyterian W,M,S. meeting at Mrs.
R, J. McMurray's home on Wednes-
day afternoon%

Mrs. Raymond Elliott, had charge of
the devotional period and introduced
the study chapter "African Education,
Old and New." Mrs. McKinney gave
the meditations. A sing-song of famil-

The topic on Africa was given in
the following divisions: Old methods
of education, Mrs. B. Moffatt; new
methods, Mrs. Felker; Christian liter-
ature, Mrs, R, Henning, Life history
of an African writer, Mrs. J. McTav-
ish, Bibles in Africa, Mrs. Smillie. Mrs,
O. Moffatt favored with an instrumen-
tal "The Glory Song with variations,"
Mrs, Levi Parr
Mrs, Levi Parr, the fernier Winona
Simpson, died in Wingham General
Hospital, on Tuesday morning. In her

Jamestown, the daughter of James
and Jessie (MacDonald) Simpson. Fol-
lowing he marriage to Levi Parr,
they farmed two and a half miles
south of Jamestown, Since her hus-
band's death Mrs. Parr has resided
in Brussels.
She is survived by one son, Gordon,
of Stratford, Mrs. Mary Willis, Loon
Lake, Sash., and Mrs, Frank (Dora)
Wright, Wroxeter, and a brother, Os-
wald Simpson, of Jamestown,
Mrs. Parr was a member of Brus-
sels United Church. A private funeral
was conducted on Wednesday after-
noon by Reverend Andrew Lane, at
her late residence, Interment took
Place in Brussels cemetery.

were needed to recover a motor car
from the Saugeen River. The machine
plunged down the steep bank at the
Allan Eby Cabins on Monday night
and landed several yards out in the
river.
According to reports the machine,
owned by a Detroit visitor, was being
towed to the main road when the tow
rope broke and the car took off over
the bank. Fortunately no one was in
the machine.
The car struck a tree in its wild ride
Berry, of Brucefield, left on a motor
, trip to the West last week, with Mr.
Ross Smith, who was returning to
Vancouver. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Berry
will go to Seattle and Mrs. Elliott to
Saskatoon.
Visitor From Manitoba
Mrs. Will Johnston, of Swan River,
Man., made a brief visit to relatives
in this vicinity recently. She is a dau-
ghter-in-law of the late Robert John-
ston, whose early life was spent in
Morris Township. Mrs, Johnston will
