Former Resident
Passes in the West
Word has just reached us concern-
ing the passing of a former resident
,of the Wingham district, Mr. John
Robertson, whose father, Mr. Alex
Robertson, lived between Wingham
And Bluevale. Mr. John Robertson
grew, up in this district and at the age
of 14 joined the Baptist church in
Wingham. He left for Western Canada
in 1892, where he settled in the Glen-
dale district, near Neepawa,' Manitoba,
In 1899 he married Miss Janet Bax-
ter, who also was a resident of Wing-
ham. Both families were well known
in this district.
Mr. Robertson farmed in the Glen-
dale district until 1945, when failing
health and increasing age made it im-
possible for him to continue his work.
With Mrs. Robertson he then moved to
the town of Neepawa where he con-
tinued to reside until his passing. Mr.
Robertson actively supported the work
and services of the Baptist church
until failing vision and physical in-
firmity made it increasingly difficult
for him to do so. After a comparative-
ly brief illness he passed away in the
Brandon General Hospital on April
20th, 1953, the funeral service being
conducted in the Baptist church, Nee-
pawa, by the Rev. W. G. Loader.
The quiet faith and consistent Chris-
tian life of the deceased marked him
as a Christian gentleman and earned
him the respect and esteem of all who
knew him, He leaves to mourn their
loss his widow and one brother, Peter
Robertson, of Portland, Mich., U. S. A.
