Hall, on _Friday, May 30th, and were
given their assignment of work for
the day, Very good progress was made
in this first day's undertakings.

Special Coronation services were
held in Knox United Church here on
Sunday, May 31st. The Scripture was
taken from Peter and St. Matthew, ▪ Rev. Charles D. Cox chose as his
sermon the story of Queen Esther. A
special anthem "Come Loyal Hearts"
Was sung by the choir. Mrs. George
Mielde was organist.
Building Materials Needed
Local building supply firms have
been overwhelmed with requeets for
materials to repair the damaged build-
ings caused by the disastrous wind
storm last Monday night, that tore
through the neighbouring townships
of East Wawanosh and Morris.

Rev. Matthew Bailie, of Bluevale,
was the guest minister on Sunday at
the Anniversary services in the Pres-
byterian Church here, Large crowds
gathered at each service and Rev.
Bailie gave two very challenging ser-
mons. In the morning he spoke on
our beliefs and convictions, showing
that these are what makes us what
we are, and 'in the evening he told
of the many ways and opportunities
Christian people have to witness for
Christ and the drastic need for that
witness in these times. The choir
rendered special anthems. Mrs, And-
rew Gaunt was soloist in the morn-
ing, and Mr. John McGee, soloist in
the evening,
Wedding of Interest
East Wawanosh people were inter-
ested in the marriage of Miss Helen
Marguerite, daughter of Mr.' and Mrs.
J, W. Strong, of Gorrie, and Mr. John
Andrew Currie, only son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Currie, of E. Wawanosh,
The nuptials were solemnized at 12
noon on Saturday, at the home of
the bride's parents, with Rev. W. J.
V. Buchanan, of Gorrie United Church
officiating, and with Miss Phyllis
Ford of Gorrie, and Mr. D. A. Hackett,
of Dungannon, as attendants, The
bride's little-sister, Joanne, was flower
girl and Mrs. George McGee played
the wedding music. The reception that
followed at the home was attended by
the immediate families, after which
the happy couple left'for a motor trip
through Western Ontario and the
Muskoka district. Mr. and Mrs. Geo,
McGee from here attended the wed-
ding. On their return they will reside
on the groom's farm in East Wawa-
nosh. Their many friends wish them
a long and happy wedded life,
Brick Mission Band
Brick Mission Band held their
Thankoffering meeting in the church
on Sunday evening, with a good at-
tendance. The pastor, Rev. C. Cox,
gave a spledid talk on the Coronation,
and all enjoyed the slides and talk on
Africa, and the varied program pre-
sented by the Mission Band members.

Prospect Hill, bpent a few days last
week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Lott, and on Saturday all vis-
ited with relatives at Amberley and
Ripley.
Mr. Robert Ross was on the
sick list again last week, at his home
in Kinloss.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hefter and
sons, of Turnberry, attended the Anni-
versary services here on Sunday, and
visited with, her mother, Mrs. Ezra
Welwood,
Mrs. Harry Tichbourne, of Goderich,
Mrs. Duncan Kennedy, of Wingham,
and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Durnin, of
St. Helens, visited on Sunday with
their mother, Mrs. David Kennedy.
The folks of the 10th concession of
E. Wawanosh held a miscellaneous
shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Leslie Wightman on Tuesday evening,
in honour of the coming marriage of
Miss Doris Shiell.
Mrs. Mary Galbraith, R. N., of De-
troit, spent the week-end with her
sister, Mrs. McRitchie, of E. Wawa-
nosh, and with other relatives here,
Mr. Chas. Leaver is spending a few
days this week with Mr. Fred Leaver,
of Toronto.
The Federation of B, Wawanosh or-
ganized "work groups" last week to
help in the South of the Township,
where much damage was done to
many farm buildifigeand where many
trees were down.
Mr, and Mrs. Robert Watson, of
Brucefield, visited at the home of their
daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Beecroft, on
Friday last.
Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Scott, of Rip-
ley, visited at the home of her sister`
Mrs. Earl Caslick, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn, left last
week for a trip to Kapuskasing. Mr.
Charles Taylor accompanied them and
will visit with relatives there.
Mrs. Allan Turner, who spent the
winter months in Toronto, returned
to her home here on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Shiell spent Sun-
day at the home of their son, Mr, El-
mer Shiell, of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss and fam-
ily, of _ Bright, spent the week-end
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben
McClenaghan, and inspected the ser-
ious damage done by the storm to his
buildings in the South of W, Wawa-
nosh.
, Mr. and Mrs. George McGee and
Linda, spent last Thursday at the
home of his sister, Mrs. Basil David-
son, at Mount Forest, and his mother,
Mrs. Leask McGee, of Toronto, who
had been visiting there, returned home
with them and spent the week-end
here. Her nephews, Mr. Joe Arthur
Taylor of New York city, and Mr. and
Mrs, Kenneth Taylor, and little daugh-
ter, Barbara, of Independence, Miss-
ouri, also visited here during the past
week.

Mr. and Mrs, Frank Thompson vis-
ited on Sunday, at the home of his
nephew, Mn, Jahn Lockhart of Au-
burn, Mr. Lockhart was one of the
E. Wawaxleeks farmers who suffered
considerable loss to his buildings dur-
ing the Wind storm of last week.
Mr. Tom Morrison was able to re-
turn breeze from Westminster Hospital
last Wednesday after spending a, few
weeks there, following an operation.

and Mrs. Wesley Moore, of St, Cagle-
arines, visited on Sunday at the hone
of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Coulter.
Miss Anne Rintoul spent the week-
end at the home of her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs, George Caldwell, of
Blyth, and the family visited there on
Sunday.
Considerable work is being put on
the road on the second concession of
Culross, widening and rebuilding, and
the sink-hole on the Boundary seems
to be very deep with so much water
in the swamps this spring.
Mr. Currie Eurchill, of London,
spent a week of his vacation, lest
week, at the home of his parents, Mr.

Young People Meet
The regular meeting of the Young
People's Society of the Presbyterian
Church was held on Tuesday evening
last, with the president, Mrs. Angus
Falconer, presiding. Mrs. James Wil-
son read the Scripture lesson and had
charge of the meditation period. Mr.
Lorne Forster led in prayer. Miss Jean
Gaunt had charge of the topic, the
symbols of the Christian religion. The
meeting was closed with the Mizpah
Benediction.
Institute Ladies Busy
The Institute ladies here had a busy
day last Thursday, when the shipment
of blankets arrived from Winnipeg.
Fifty-two blankets in ell. The ladles
had previously sent their woollen
goods to have them made into blank-
ets.
