Mr, Win. Souch celebrated his 9dth
birthday last week at his home on
the ard line of Morris.
He has lived at his present home
nearly all his life. His wife, formerly
Charlotte Jewitt, died twenty years
age. He lasts three sons, four daugh-
ters, 35 grandchildren and 57 greet
;grandchildren. some members of the
(family live in the West.
Present at the birthday supper
party were two daughters: Mrs.
Frank stamper, of Bluevale and Mrs.
Mildred Stewart who lives with Mr,
Souch, one .son,.Chas. Souch, of
Morris, two sisters, Mrs, henry Bone,
of Morris, and Mts. Adrian Porteous,
of Seaforth.
The dining table was centred with
a birthday cake and floral decora-
tions, Nunmerous gifts, messages and
visits from friends made the day a
memorable one.
Mr, Souch enjoys fair health,
though suffering somewhat from the
effects of a recent fall.
Exchange Pulpits
Rev, M. Bailie, of Knox Presbyter-
ian Church, exchanged pulpits with
Rev. R. D. A. Currie, of Whitechurch
Presbyterian Church, on Sunday.
Coronation Service
Rev. R. A. Brook conducted a spec-
ial Coronation service in the United
Church on Sunday, preaching from
the text "I was glad when they said
unto me let us go up unto the House
of the Lord" the words of the anthem
arranged for singing by the Abbey
choir at the Coronation in Westmin-
ster Abbey. Mr. Brook described the
significance of the Coronation cere-
mony for the Queen and her mini-
sters and for her subjects in all parts
of the Commonwealth, and eloquently
described the bond which unites us
under the Monarchy,
W. 1. June Meeting
The Women's Institute will hold its
June meeting by special invitation at
the home of Miss Florence Fowler,
Seaforth, The bus will leave the post
office at one o'clock on Thursday
afternoon, June 11th. The roll call
will be answered by giving a quota-
tion from a Canadian author. Mrs.
M. L, Aitken will speak on "Books I
Have Enjoyed," Citizenship and Edu-
cation is the theme of the meeting.

of Toronto, is a guest at the same
home.
Miss Betty Irving, of Toronto, is
visiting her aunt, Miss Jessie Strach-
an.
Miss Betty Irving, Mrs. Jas. You-
mans, and Alice, Detroit, Mrs. And-
rew Lamont and Mr. Diligald Strach-
an, of Bluevale, attended the Short-
reed - McDonald wedding in Mel-
ville Presbyterian Church, on Satur-
day.
Mr. Sperling Johnston has bought
a house in Wingham, and sold his
property to Mr. Jas. VanCarap, of Mor-
ris.
Mrs, Morley Traviss has returned
home from Listowel Hospital.
Miss Janie Day spent a few days
last week with Mr. and Mrs. King.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McKercher and
Mr, and Mrs, Fred Montgomery, were
week-end visitors in Detroit.
Several families around here visited
the places near Sarnia which had been
damaged by the tornado last week.

The regular meeting of the 4.Inited
Church W.M.S, was held Friday .after-
noon at the home of IVIrs. Wm.
Elliott. Mrs. Fraser was the leader
for the meeting and followed the pro-
gramme in the Missionary Monthly.
The meeting opened with -.H.Y-Tnn
255. Mrs. Fred Johann read the
Scripture. The secretary Mrs, Bath-erford read the minutes of tbe last
meeting, Some articles for the bale
were received. Mrs. Martin read the
chapter from the Study Book, Mary
Elliptt gave two musical numbers.
The meeting closed with prayer by
Mrs. Fraser after which Mrs. Elliott
served a dainty lunch,
W. I; Meeting
The next W.I. meeting is to be
held in the Community Hall on June
10th. The meeting will commence
at 2.30 and Miss Mary Love, Huron
County health nurse will be guest
Speaker. Roll Call will be "What I
keep in my medicine cabinet and
why".
At 3 p.m. a pluitographer is coming
to take a photo of the Women's In-
stitute' group for the Tweedsmuir
Book. Will all who are members at
present, and all those who have at
any time been members of the Bel-
more W.I. please accept this as an
invitation to come to this meeting, as
we would like to have as complete al
photograph as possible.
W.I. Canvass Success
The Women's Institute canvass for
the Salvation Army has been com-
pleted and a little over 8200.00 has
been sent in.

Whitechurch Minister Preaches
Rev. R. D. A. Currie of White-
church occupied the pulpit in the
Presbyterian church on Sunday after-
noon and took his text from John 8-
36, "If the Son shall make you free, 1
you shall be free indeed," The choir
sang a special number.
Address on Palestine
Rev. R. J. Boggs, of Molesworth
gave an address in the Presbyterian 1
church here on Sunday evening,
under the auspices of the W.M.S. He
dealt with his sojuorn in Palestine
during the tear, and in a reverent and
interesting way 'painted a word pic-
ture that made the places mentioned ,

Hold Shower for Couple
A Shower was held in the Hall on
Friday night for Mr, and Mrs. Walter
Renwick thee Mary Will). A large
,crowd was in attendance. Music was
provided by the Western Five.
During the evening an address was
read by Doris Doubledee and the
presentation of a sofa bed and chair
to match also a purse of money was
made by Allan Wylie, Jack Inglis,
Raymond Gowdy, Elmer Merkley,
Ralph Dickson and Orval Dustow.
The recipients thanked all: those
present and also those who had in
any way assisted.

returned there with them, after
spending two weeks visiting friends

Donald of Luckn,ow, sang a duet,
Wins Cup' at Festival
Master Billy Jeffray, son of Mr.
and Mrs. A. Jeffray on the cup don-
ated by the Tiger Dunlop Women's In-
stitutes and suitably inscribed, by
taking first place in the 9 year old
and under boys' vocal solo class at
the Huron Co. Musical Festival at
Goderich last week.
His cousin Johnny Railer got a
certificate for winning 2nd place in
the 11 years and under boys' vocal
solo. He had 86 points, Billy had 87.
Both boys were among the prize win-
ners at the preliminary festival at
Bluevale, so were eligible to go on to
Goderich.
