FORDWICH RESIDENT
DIES IN GUELPH
The death occurred on Sunday, at
the Guelph General/Hospital, of Amos
Lewis Denny, Fordwich, in his 80th
year.
Born in Howick Township in 1874,
Mr. Denny was a member of the
Funeral services were held on
Tuesday from the Edgar Funeral
Chapel with Rev. W. R. Tristram
officiating: Interment was in Ford-
with Cemetery, and the funeral was
under the auspices of the Orange
Order.
Pallbearers were Clifford Denny,
Ted Denny, Jack Bricker, Fred Dunn,
Don Brown and A. Beswetherick.

John A. Kelly Passes
In 75th Year
Funeral services for the late John
A. Kelly, who died in Wingham Gen-
eral Hospital, on Friday last, were
held on Monday from the S. J. Walker
Funeral Home, with Rev, J. L. Coyle
officiating, assisted by Rev. J. N. H.
Norton, of Paisley. Interment was in
Wingham cemetery.
Mr. Kelly was born in Turnberry
Township 75 years ago, and farmed on
the Kelly homestead until his retire-
ment to Wingham in 1952. In -1906 he
married Elizabeth Homuth, of Turn-
berry, who survives. He was a member
of the Wingham Baptist Church for
58 years, and a deacon of that church
for -38 years.
Surviving besides his wife, are one
son, Arno, of Kincardine, and four
daughters, Mrs. Charles (Gertrude)
Tilden, St. Thomas; Mrs. Alvin (Ida)
Procter; Mrs. Frank (Louise) Collar;
Mrs. Bruce (Marie) MacLean, all of
Wingham. A child, Lois, died in in-
fancy. Also surviving are two brothers,
Tom, of Banff, Alberta, and William,
of )3elgrave, and one sister, Mrs. R.
H, Mack, and fourteen grandchildren.
Two brothers, James and Peter, pre-
deceased him. .
Pallbearers at the funeral were
Bert Holmes, Frank Howson, Elgin
Johnston,' Theodore Mundy, Walter
Pocock and James Stapleton.
Friends and relatives were present
from Sudbury, Toronto, Niagara Falls,
Walton, Harriston, St. Thomas,, Kin-
cardine, Paisley, Kitchener, Ailsa

the home of her daughter, returned
home on Saturday, accompanied by
her daughter, and husband, Mr. and

—Mrs. R. R. Hobden, together with
a sister from St. Petersburg, Florida,
a sister and brother from Baie Co-
meau, Quebce and other members of
the family were in Montreal over the
week-end attending a 75th birthday
party for their mother, Mrs. J. E.
McDonald.
—Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brown,
daughter and son, of Whidsor; Mr.
Durward Preston of Waterloo, Mi.
and Mrs. Harold McCallum, of Kitch-
ener, Mr. John D. Preston pf Strat-
ford, were in' town over Sunday, ow-
ing to the serious accident which be-
fell Mrs. Frank Preston.
—Mrs. H. Burrell had as guests for
the past two weeks, her father, Rev.
W. W. Anglin, who spent the winter
in Kingston with another daughter,
and his brother, Mr. C. H. Anglin,
who had visited in Texas for the
winter. These two gentlemen are leav-
ing for the Manitoulin Island to spend
the summer months.
Mrs. George H. Coulter, of Wing-
ham held a miscellaneous shower for
Doris Shiell, popular bride-elect on
Thursday of last week., Over twenty
guests were present, and Miss Shiell
was the recipient of a beautiful bride's
book.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. J.'-W.
Strong,- of Gorrie, was the scene of a
pretty wedding on Saturday, May 30th,
when their elder daughter, Helen
Marguerite, became the bride of John
Andrew Currie, son of Mr. and Mrs.
R. J, Currie, R.R. 3, Wingham. The
ceremony 'was performed by the Rev,
J, W. V. Buchanan, of Gorrie United
Church. Mrs. George McGee, sister of
the groom, played the wedding music.
The bride wore an ankle-length
gown of white taffeta over which was.
worn a pale blue French Chantilly
type lace tunic with long lily-point
sleeves and fitted bodice, her finger-
tip illusion veil falling from an orange
blossom headdress. She carried a cas-
cade bouquet of pale pink carnations.
Miss Phyllis Ford was bridesmaid,
wearing an ankle-length gown of daf-
fodil nylon and carrying a cascade
bouquet of yellow mums. Little Joan
Strong, sister of the bride, was flower
girl in a blue nylon gown and carried
a basket of pink sweet pears and
roses,
Mr. David Hackett, of Dungannon,
was best man.
Over 25 guests attended the wed-
ding reception, the bride's mother
wearing pink nylon, white accessories
and a corsage of pink and white car-
nations, The groom's mother wore
navy sheer, white accessories and a
corsage of red roses.
For the honeymoon to Niagara Falls
and eastern points, the bride chose a
blue sheer dress with spice accessories,
matching hat and full-length coat.
They will reside on the groom's farm
in East Wawanosh,
