THE VOICE OF TEMPERANCE
It 'is in the nature of things that
most laws are enacted for restrictive
purposes. If there is Wrong in the
eyes of the Ethics of our civilization,
there will be a law attempting to cope
with it. And if there is a law, there is
restriction. One has only to consider-
for a Momerit the eestrictiveness of
our laws concerning hunting or fish-
ing or speeding, to appreciate this
fact, Law protects society by reStriet-
ing excessiveness. If the actions Of a
segment of society are basically Wrong,
can there be MY question but that
the more restrictive the law is dealing
with it, the better it will be fee' the
good of all? Net all countries or pro-
vinces Or dbrinnunities have the satire
laWa. Which laws are the best? When
Wrong.evident, the law that is the

Wingham will have an opportunity
to vote for their new slate of officers
for the 1953-54 season this Friday
evening, This is a very important
meeting for each and every member.
To date none of the proposed

mean that the balloting will be hot
and heavy.
With regards to the Kinsmen's Kin
Keno, reports have it that there are
a few- persons in town who have just
one number to go for a full card,
Excitement is running high towards
the big jackpot to be won by some
lucky person or persons.

It's in the Bag!
()Question is What?
If shortly you see Mr. and Mrs.
Wingham carrying a shopping bag
full of seems to be unrelated junk,
you'll know they are merely on their
way to take part in a cheerful craze
that has been sweeping across Can -
ada.
A turnip, a calendar of 1930 vintage,
even a brick from the house next
door,—any unexpected item,—can win
a prize worth hundreds of dollars
when Roy Ward Dickson and his
daffy gang come to the Wingham
Arena on Friday, May 15th, with their
allInew "Fun Parade of '53 show."
That's why everybody and his
brother will be loading up with the
doggondest things, as they head for
the big show.
In case you ask what the "Fun Pars
ade" is all about, we'd say that it's
almost without pattern, except that
Dickson always has, his big audiences
uproariously enjoying a full evening
of sidespliting shenanigans, and ramb-
ling home loaded down with thous-
ands of dollars' worth of fabulous
prizes,
