He remarked that it was thirteen years to the day since he had preached his first sermon in Winghani and said, "Thanks for the day", which he had spent in this community. At the close of the service, a social hour was spent in the school room. Under the chairmanship of Colin Fin- gland, a short program was presented which included: A piano solo by Cath- arine Keating, a vocal solo by Jack Reavie, a duet from Mrs, George Guest and Mrs. W. B. McCool and a reading by Mrs. W. VanWyck, Rev. A. Nimmo, minister of St. And- rew's Presbyterian Church spoke briefly, telling of the friendly relation- ship which existed between the two churches and sending the best wishes of St, Andrew's congregation with Dr. and Mrs. Beecroft to their new home. Two presentations were then made. G. W. Tiffin read the following ad- dress, and, on behalf of the congre- gation, Mrs. W. Wingham 'United Church has pros- pered during your pastorate. The church debt was paid off some years ago and the church plant is in fine condition. The missionary givings of the congregation, by your inspiration, and, at your urgng, have been exceed- ed year by year. It was good to have your courageous leadership through the war years when our world hung so near to complete physical disaster. The personal reassurance you were able to bring to so many in their times of trouble will be gratefully remem- bered.
