On Friday, April 3rd, the Good Fri-
day service will be held in the United
Church at 11 a.m, The Rev, Douglas
Fuller of the Trinity Anglican Church
will deliver the sermon, Everyone is
cordially invited to 'attend.
Social Evening
A rink of curlers, comprised of
Messrs. Wm, Edgar, Marshall Wilcox,
Wm. McElwain, Frank Graham were
invited to Wingharn Monday evening
of last week to spend a social evening
with the curlers there. Several rinks
were present from Harriston, Wrox-
hter, Clifford and Fordwich,
Club Girls Meet
The second meeting of the Club
Girls was held at the home of Mrs.
Geo. Richards. Miss Richard opened
the meeting and Mrs, L. Simmons
read the minutes of the last meeting.
Roll call was answered by the kinds of
sandwiches made at home.
The' discussion was on Hospitality,
the home as a place to entertain and
a family pleasure, The responsibilities
of a hostess were discussed. The guest
room was also discussed, and the

Officers were elected for the coming
year when the W.I. met at the home
of Mrs. H. Harris. °Altholigh all the
programs in the past year drew a
mention, a debate proved the most in-
teresting and popular according to the
Roll Call, "The program I enjoyed
most during the year".
Mrs, A. Demorling, Mrs, R. Gibson
and Mrs. F. Demerling were appointed
to design a rug to be entered in the
W. I. rug competition. It was decided
to sponsor the Gowanstown W.I. Play
if terms were satisfactory.
According to reports read by the
standing committee the past year has
been very profitable, as well as in-
structive and entertaining.
The following officers were elected
for 1953 and 54 with Mrs. Wm. Mc-
Cann, district president, in the chair;
president, Mrs, H, Harris; 1st vice
pres., Mrs: R, Gibson; 2nd vice pres"
,-,ibson; sec.-treas., Mrs. S.
Bride; district director, Mrs. C. Har-
ris; branch directors, Mrs, W. Camp-
bell, Mrs, A. Demerling, and Miss M,
Spence; pianist ;Mrs L. Seifert.
The branch directors were named to
select a slate of conveners for stand-
ing committees. Penny Round-up bags
were distributed to be brought to the
next meeting which will be held at
the home of Miss M. Spence.
A good crowd attended the euchre
Euchre and Bingo
and bingo party on Friday night in
the Community Hall. About sixteen
tables of euchre were in play.

Mr. Wm. Sothern, age 91, has re-
turned home from Victoria Hospital,
London, where he underwent a very
successful operation.
Mrs. A, Wallace returned to her
position at McDermitt's store on Mon-
day after a bout with the flu last
week.
Airmen Edwin Winston and Peter
Woods, are spending a leave at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Winston,
having finished their course at Nova
Scotia, the boys are members of the
R,A.F.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Williamson
and family of Milton, are visiting the
latter's mother Mrs. Elmer Fallis and
Harvey has been confined to bed for
the past four weeks. We are pleased
to know he is making a satisfactory
recovery.
Nine men journeyed to London on
Tuesday to donate blood to the blood
bank, which Mr. Earl Patterson has
received. They were Messrs, Bill Stin-
son, Jack Brown, Mel Allan, Cecil
Dermitto, Blake Gibson, Wm. Mc-
Wilson, Harold Pollock, Harvey Mc-
Elwain, Mr. Patterson accompanied
them.
The ladies of the United Church
met in the basement of the church on
Thursday afternoon and quilted six
quilts for the European Flood Relief.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mapleton and
son of Mount Foiest were Saturday
guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ross Coates.
Messrs. Bruce Williamson, Bert Gal-
laway and Bob Finlay, of London,
spent the week-end in town.
—Mr. George Richards spent the
past week in Blenheim, visiting with
his brother, Mr. Harry Richards.
—Mr. and Mrs. John Craig visited
in Toronto, on Tuesday. Mrs. Jennie
Craig returned home with them after
spending the past week with her
family.
