Cecil Walpole, All stood and a ;Aim
ute'S silence was. observed In tribute
to her Menlory.
The Members extended birthday
greetings to one of the oldest members
of the W, I. Mrs. Edward Lewis who
the day before celebrated het seventy.,
ninth birthday. The conveners of
Community Activities, Mrs. j, Blake,
Mrs. P., Mundy, Mrs. A. Green and
Mrs, 3. Halliday bad arranged the
following program: a reading by Mrs.
W. 5. Henderson, solo by Raymond
Walker, accompanied at the piano by
Miss Francis Walker; a play, "The
Minister's New Car" by ten ladies of
Hackett's church was thoroughly en-
joyed by all. Mrs, W, Ford accompan-
led a duet by Mrs, W. Henry and Mrs.
H. Aitchison and Community singing.
Mrs. R, Mowbray gave a reading and
Misses Lois and Francis Walker play-
ed a piano duet,
A social time was enjoyed and lunch
served. The meeting closed with God
Save the Queen.
St. Paul's Guild
( The regular meeting of St. Paul's
Guild was held in the parish room on
Thursday, with t splendid attendance.
After repeating the General Confes-
sion and the Lord's Prayer, the minu-
tes of the last meeting were read, the
1 treasurer's report given, and the cor-
1 respondence read.
A report of the Valentine Tea was
given and the president thanked all
the members for making the Tea a
great success. Plans were made for
making talent money during the
month of March and April.
After the general business was
dealt with the rheeting closed and a
social half hour was enjoyed.
Marion Williamson
Group Met Tuesday
The regular monthly meeting of the
Marion Williamson Girls' Group was
, held at the home of Helen Ford on
Tuesday evening, February 24th. The
meeting opened with call to worship
Iby the president, Mary Rae. After the
singing of a hymn and prayer, Bar-
bara Merrick played a piano solo,
"Peasant Dance". Jean Campbell read
a story which was followed by a time
dine and a play, "Drama, 100 Years
Ago". Mrs. D, Fry read "Land of Sur-
prises" and a poem, ""Tie Winter",
was read by Helen Ford, The secre
tary and treasurer read their reports,
the offering was received and plans
were made for the next meeting, Doris
Machan read the second chapter of
the study book, "Get Through or Die"
after which she read a prayer.
The meeting closed with a hymn
and after lunch was served, the bene-
diction. was repeated.
Baptist Senior
Mission Circle
The regular monthly meeting of the
senior Women's Mission Circle of
the Baptist Church was hell at the
home of Mrs. Patterson, John St.
The vice-president Mrs. W. Harcourt
presided and opened wita prayer
followed by the singing of the hymn
"All Hall the Power of Jesus' Name".
A letter was read by Mrs. Rintoul
from Ma. Weiner, a converted Jew
who is spreading the good news of a
coming Messiah among his own peo-
plo here in Canada.
A chapter from the study book
"Hudson Taylor's Secret" was re-
m craved by Mrs, Harcourt. Another
Film was Swig '"No Name as Sweet
— as Jesus".
'The speaker for the afternoon Was
Mist; Laure Collar who read the
Scripture Matthew Chapter 6 and
gave a very interesting message "Mir-
aeles are wrought to-day, even in
Africa but Miss Collar stressed its
need of the prayer of God's people
at home.
A season of prayer was conducted
by several members of the Circle. A
hymn was sung and Mrs. Miles Cam-
eron closed with prayer.
A delicious lunch was served and a
social hour enjoyed.
Passes in Toronto
The death occurred in Toronto on
Saturday, February 28th, of Laura
Copeland, wife of Wilbert G. Pen,
nington of Winnipeg. She was the
daughter of the late William and
Mary Copeland of Teeswater and a
sister of R, R. Copeland., Brandon,
Man., ;Ara, W, D, Button, Moose
Jaw, Sask., Chestef R., London, Arley
Windsor and Ermin S, df Win
ham. Besides her husband, she is
survived. by two sons and two daugh-
ters. Burial took plate on Monday,
March 211d., at Toronto.

—Jimmie Henderson, age 2, son of
Mr. and Mrs. George Henderson, was
admitted to Wingham General Hospi-
tal on Thursday, suffering flaim a
fractured collarbone,
—Miles Overend, who was in Toron-
to on the week-end, returned to Wing-
ham on Sunday with Mrs, Overend
and Tym, who are taking up residence
in town.
—Leslie Alton, 61, of Lucknow, was
treated in the Wingham General Hos-
pital for a fractured hip caused by a
fall while walking in the snow, Thurs-
day.
—Mrs, Loretta St, Marie and Audrey
visited with Mrs. St. Marie's mother,
Mrs, Ignatius Kueneman and brothers
and sisters in Hanover on the week-
end. • —Harold Cantelon of the Depart-
ment of Game and Fisheries in Owen
Sound, has been 'transferred to Galt,
where he has taken up residence on
Monday of this week,

and Tom spent last week visiting rela-
tives in Chatham, They attended a
dinner and reception on Wednesday
in honor of Mrs. Gammage's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bentley Shaw on the

Coronation Tea
The Women's. Association of Wing-
ham United Church held their meet-
ing on Thursday, with the president,
Mrs,- A. W. Irwin presiding. Plans
were made for the spring activities
which included catering to two wed-
dings and also to a golden wedding
celebration, In. honor of the approach-
ing coronation, it was decided to hold
a Coronaaion, Tea on. Wednesday,
April 22nd. After discussing the Over-
seas Flood Relief, $25.00 was voted to
that worthy cause. Lunch was served
at the close of ,,the meeting.

game on Monday night in the finals
with Lucknow ended rather disas-
trously for Howick with a score of
Lucknow 20-Howick 1.
Rey. Douglas Fuller was called to
Walpole Island the first of the week
to conduct the funeral of one of his
former parishioners.
Mrs. Allan Hynclman visited for
several days last week with relatives
