Address Farm Forum Meeting

James Scott gasses
James Scott, son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Scott, of Langside, passed
away in Chatham Hospital last Thurs-
day, after a short illness at Wallace-
burg, where he had been working. He
was the youngest of the family of
seven sons. Harvey, a brother, prede-
ceased him about five years ago, Five
brothers survive, Whitfield of Nor-
thern Ontario; Gordon, of Ripley;
David, of Toronto; George, of Wing-
The Farn1 Forum met on Monday
evening at the home of Mr, and Mrs.
Donald Martin, with 3a present. Mr.
N. S. Smith of the Dominion Bank,
and Mr. R. R. Hobden, of the Plank
of Commerce, of Wingham, were the
guests for the evening and led in an
interesting discussion on farm credits
available to farmers through banks.
They advised farmers and Junior far-
mers to come in and talk over their
problems and be assured of a symp•
athetic understanding and guidance.
Loans were available for purchase of
farms, farm machinery and for im-
provements of farm buildings on long
term payment plan, The chairman,
Mr. Walter Elliott extended to them
when left on deposit in a Victoria
and Grey Guaranteed Investment Cer-
tificate for 5 years.
Amounts from $100.00 up may be left
on deposit.
Interest is payable half-yearly by
cheque or registered coupon, or may
be left to accumulate at compound

the past three weeks with flu, but is
able to be out again, and Chas. Taylor

visited on Wednesday with her par.

home of their daughter, Mrs. Gilbert

ed on Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. Ed.
Robinson of St. Augustine.
Mr. and Mrs. George Currie and
Jean of E. Wawanosh, spent Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Currie of
Clinton,
Thomas Gaunt of Wingham, is a
patient in Wingham Hospital this
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Robertson and
Jimmie, visited on Sunday at the home
of her niece, Mrs. Walter Elliott.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Scott, of E,
Wawanosh, spent Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. D. A. Ritchie, of Culross.
Churches and schools are busy in
this district this week with Valentine
socials.
Orville Mitchell, who has been work-
ing for the past few months in Tor-
onto, spent the week-end at his home
in Kinloss.
Alex McKenzie and Mr. and Mrs.
Geo. Lockhart of Kinloss, spent Fri-
day with Mr. and Mrs, Russell Gaunt.
Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Shiell spent a
few days last week with London and
St. Thomas relatives, and their little
grandson, Bobby Shiell, who had been
visiting here, returned home to Lon-
don with them.
Mrs. Harold Currie of Culross, is
spending a few days this week with
her brothers, Fred and Harry Deacon,
Mr. and Mrs. John Purden visited
on Sunday at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Harold Cook of Blyth.
MPS. Azrn WelwOOd also Mr. and
MP, NerMaa WelWaedt Wingham, vis-
ited with Mr, WeiwOOd in Weattnin,
step Hospital, London, on Sunday,
Mrs. Alex Rintoul, who left on Sun-
day last to visit with her daughter,
Mrs, Jim Reed at Port Elgin, has been
suffering from a stroke since Tues-
day, and has been very low over the
week-end. All the members of her
family from this district end Ash-
field and Toronto were called there
on Friday,
Mr, and Mrs.,Fred Neighbour, who
have been spending the past two
weeks at the home of her niece, MM.
Jack Maera,rland at Scotland, return-
ed home to Mr. and Mrs. J. G, Gilles-
pie's on. Sunday with Mr. and Mrs,
McFarland.
Cecil Falconer left on Sunday with
.Athol Pardon, of Wingham, to spend
a few days this week in Toronto. Mrs.
Falconer and Allan accompanied them
as far as Caledon and will visit with
relatives there.
Little Billie Robinson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Chas. Robinson has been a
very sick little boy in Wingham Hos-
pital over the week-end,
Mr ,and Mrs, Irwin MeCienaghan
and baby, Mary Lou, ofoSt. Thomas,
visited on Sunday with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs, Ben MoClenaghan and
Mrs. McClenaghan 'accompanied them
home to St. Thomas for a visit there.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Redmond and
family, of St. Augustine, visited on
Sunday with her grandmother, Mrs.

Miss Eleanore Wightman returned
to. her Pesition in. Victoria Hospital,
on Sunday, after spending a week
with her parents,. Mr, and Mrs. Leslie
Wighttnan.

The community was saddened to
learn of the passing of Mr. Charles
Simpson, on Wednesday. The funeral
was held from the Walker Funeral
Home on Friday afternoon with in-.
'terment in Brussels cemetery.

fortune to fall and break her foot, one
day last week.
