Local Churches Elect
Officers at Annual Meetings

heard from all departments of the
church. Votes of thanks for work
done were tendered to Austin Stinson,
as choir leader, Miss Violet Beswither-
iek, as organist, to those having flow-
ers in the church, to the Mission Band
leader, the Vacation School staff and
to the caretaker,
Mr. Tristram announced that the
Vacation School for um will begin on
July 6th, A period of silence for those
who had passed away during theyear,
was observed followed by prayer, A
vote of appreciation and thanks was
tendered to Rev. and Mrs, Tristram
fer their splendid work and leader-
ship. The meeting closed with a hymn
and benediction.
Trinity Meeting
Trinity Anglican Church held its
annual Vestry meeting on Tuesday
evening at which there was a fine
attendance. A congregational supper
was served before the meeting, The

Ken Graham; 3rd, vice prose Mrs. IA
Schaefer; secretary, Mrs. M. Allan;
assistant secretary, Mrs, goo, ,Ashton;
treasurer, Mrs, Carl Edinger.

warded to the Presbyterial, Taking
part in the program were Mrs. E. Pat-
terson, Mrs. H, Rogers, Mrs. Emma
Williamson, Mrs, F. Witmer, Mrs,
Giles, Mrs. R, Hibberd and Mrs. H.
Pollock.
W. I. Meeting
Mrs. R. Gibson was hostess to the
Fordwich W. I, at her home for the
meeting on citizenship and education.
Mrs. H. Haeris presided and Mrs. W.
Cooper read the Scripture. Miss M.
Spence presented the motto.
The members decided to take part
in the rug competition sponsored by
a tea company, They also voted in fav-
or of the Institute's annual concert to
be held in the community hall in
March. Program committees were
named, Mrs, C. Sotheran and Mrs. G.
Richards, Mrs. C. Carswell and Mrs.
H. Pollock, Miss M. Spence and Mrs.
S. Johnston. Members and visitors
paged through an English cook book
and looking over clippings received
from the corresponding Institute in
England.
• REAFFILIATION SERVICE
Tams and. Beanies C.G.I,T. and the
the Fordwich W.M.S. Auxiliary held
their reaffiliation service in the base-
ment of the United Church on Mon-
day evening, Jean Wallace, president
of the Beanies, and Florence Forester,
assistant-secretary, were in charge.
The meeting opened withethe Nation-
al Anthem, the Lord's Prayer and
the C,G,I.T, purpose and answer. Mrs.
H. Pollock, with the assistance of sev-
eral girls, reviewed the study book,
"Torchbearers in Angola." "God Call-:
ing," Elizabeth Patterson sang a solo.
"Lord of Light, Whose Name Out-
shineth." Joan Hainstock read the
Scripture lesson and Marjorie Forster
led in prayer. The reaffiliateon service
was carried out. Mrs. G. Brown, pre-
sident of the Auxiliary and Ira Schae-
fer, vice-president, for younger groups,
represented the W.M.S, Auxiliary,
Marilyn Cooper, president of the
Tams, Mrs. C, Carswell, leader of the
Beanies, Margaret Allen, Marlene
Johnston, Reta Harding, Ruth Rib-
herd, represented the C.G.I.T. groups.
Elizabeth Patterson, treasurer, pre-
sented a gift for the W.M.S. Mission-
ary work to Mrs. H, Pollock, Huron
Presbyterial secretary for C.G.I.T.
groups,
Mrs, Stan Bride gave an interesting
talk on the subject "Be Ye Doers of
the World." In it she told the girls
and their mothers that not only must
they read the word in the Bible but
that they must be doers, She said
"There are great depths in Jesus
Christ that have never been discover-
ed, They are waiting for young souls,
eager, ardent, receptive, submissive,
active youth willing to be doers of
the Word, willing to make their faith
a living thing. You have only one life
to live, you have only one time in
which to live it; let each one take
from here and by the Grace of God
really start living. No one can live this
life for you. Great living is yours for
the taking in Jesus Christ. Be ye doers
of the Word."

to a more intensive study of the Bible
and to encourage private and family
worship as a means of Grace, Mrs.
E. Patterson was the leader and she
was assisted by Mrs. Rogers, Mrs,
Willianion, Mrs, Witmer, Mrs, Giles
and Mrs. Hibbert,
The study period, which dealt with
"Healing and Health" from the Afric-
an study book, was convened by Mrs.
H. Pollock and she related many
astounding facts, In Canada our life
expectancy is 70 years, in Africa it is
20 years. In Canada we have a doctor
for every one thousand people. In
Africa a doctor for every 100,000. The
remainder of the program took the
form of an interview in charge of Mrs.
0, Giles and assisted by Mrs. C, Wil-
son, Mrs. W. Craig and Mrs, S. Bride,
who represented Missionaries at the
various mission stations, and gave
some intimate accounts of their ser-
vice there.
The reports of various secretaries
for 1952 were most encouraging, show-
ing an increase in givings and mem-
bership and renewed interest in every
department. The treasurer's report
showed over $360 forwarded to the
Presbyterial treasurer.
A most impressive installation ser-
vice was conducted by the past presi-
dent, Mrs. W. Wilson. Mre, Gordon
Brown was returned as president for
her fointh term.

Rev. Mr, Tristram, who spoke on his
adventures In Africa as a teakwood
dealer.. He showed colored slides taken
Mostly around the Gold Coast.
Mrs. F. D.errierling thanked the
speaker, Mrs, C. McKee of Kurtzvllle,
gave a lesson in English smocking,

Mr, Taylor, recently,
Mrs, Mae Corbett and two children
of London, have been visiting with
Mrs. Corbett's parents.
Miss Christine Becker left last week
to visit the western provinces.

Games were enjoyed and lunch was
