THE VOICE OF TEMPERANCE
It was a clergyman of Goderich
who told 'usthat his last pastorate
had been in a town which was in Ont-
ario Liquor Control Act territory.
There was no lack of outlets there.
There were beer parlors and liquor'
stores. There were also 'bootleggers.
Evidence of drinking and drunken-
ness were a common sight. For three
years he has been in Goderich and
his verdict is that the people of Huron
do not realize how fortunate they are
under the Canada Temperance Act.
Hardly ever dbes he see evidences of
drinking or drunkenness. He is con-
vinced that increase of outlets under
the Ontario Liquor Control Act means
increase of drinking both by adults
and minors and increase .of trouble.
Moreover it is not because the people
of Huron are ignorant that they want Miller held low points, Lunch was
the Canada Temperance Act main- ' served and the forum meets next week
tamed—and the Globe and Mail car- at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
vied that slur—hut because they are Martin. Mr. Walter Elliott was ap-
not so gullible as to swallow such ir- pointed chairman for the next month.
