McKillop Voters
Return Same Council
Casting votes in one of the highest
balloting percentages in township his-
tory, McKillop electors-773 of thorn--
went to the polls Monday to return
for 1953 the same four. councillors who
sat in office during the previous
year.
Elected were councillors Jeremiah
Doerr, Wilson Little, W. Earl Mills,
and Albert Siemer', A week earlier at
the nomination. meeting, Reeve Daniel
l3euermann was acclaimed to the first
council office for his sixth term. He
was unopposed in nomination for the
reeveship.
Defeated candidate for the township
council was Peter Maloney, who polled
a total of 277 votes. Mr. Maloney led
in Poll 1 by a wide margin, with 180
votes.—Huron Expositor.

word from Queen's Park last week
that a new vote had been ordered
there on the question of ladies' bev-
erage roans, and date for same was
set for March 11th, This action fol- 0
lowed the disallowing of sufficient U
vites by County Judge a. F. P. Birnie 0
on a hearing granted the "drys" some
time ago, following the "wet" win of
Sept. 4th. In Judge Birnie's ruling the
men's room vote was allowed to stand
by a 1-vote margin over the required
60 per cent for re-establishment of a ,
beverage room here, with the wo-
men's room out by four votes under 0
the necessary majority.
The announcement came from
Queen's Park that the Ontario Temp- i
erarice Federation had been granted
a hearing of the Teeswater case be- n
fore a Supreme Court Judge in week- le
ly court in Toronto, same to be heard
this Thursday. It is understood the U
evidence heard before Judge' Birnle 0
will be reviewed at this hearing,
