January 23rd.-Lack of accommoda- tion at the Wingham General Hospi- tal was stressed by the chairman, superintendent and committee heads at the annual meeting. Town offered $115,000 in debentures for sale to the citizens of Wingham. January 30th-Five hundred attended Burns Carnival at Belgrave Arena. "Stage Crazy" presented in the town hall by Kinsmen and Lions. February 6th-Milk prices were raised in Ontario, with quarts selling at 21c, a jump of 2 cents. February 13th-Friday, February 15th, proclaimed official day of mourning for the late King George VI. Service held at St. Paul's in Wingham. February 20th-The Rev. Harvey Lloyd Parker, of Ckesley and Tara, was appointed to the parish ,of St. Paul's Church here, February 27th.-Hon. Russell T. Kelly, fromer Ontario Health Minister and and a native of Teeswater, died in Hamilton. Marcli 5th-Town Council accept offer of wading pool from the Kinsmen Club. New pay scale approved by fire- men, March 12th.-Athletic Association formed. Wingham Figure Skaters and Stratford Skating Club present Wings of Steel. March 19th.-Wingham Business As- sociation formed and J. P. McKibbon elected ,presiderit:,. March 20t11,-The. Wilfred Hamilton Trophy for the December draw at the Winghana Curling .Club won by a rink skipped. by Harley Crawford. April 36th,-Wingham District High School Board set tax rate of 5.25 mills. Public School Board raises teachers' salaries. April 23rd.-Barry Kaye, CKNX an- nouncer, died -suddenly in Toronto. Vapour trails excite Ontario residents. R. S. Hetherington elected president of Wingham Curling Club. April 30th.-Fire damages roof and cotents of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Vanstone, Patrick St. May 7th.-Committee formed to pro- test CNR passenger service cut on Palmerston, Kincardine line. May 14th.-Council struck a rate of 77 mills, an increase of 11 mills over last Year. Health Minister Phillips visit- ing in Wingham, hears plan for $350.- 000 hospital addition. May 21st-Bill Davidson killed while attempting to dismantle a water drill- ing rig in a well. May 28th.-Mrs, L. H. Rosman and Mrs. Win. Dawson observe 95th birth- days on May 24th. June 4th.-Luc-Tee Win Conservation Club launched with Mr. A. W. Hamil- ton as president. United Church Flow- er Sunday service outstanding. June llth-Songmen thrilled audience of music lovers. Mel Lavigne wins Canadian oldtime filddlers' title. August 20th.-Charles Blyth, CNR station agent, left for Owen Sound, where he was named agent. August 27th.-Wingham Mercurys knocked out of fastball semi-finals by Lucknow. - AMMO! September 3rd.-Increased attendance at opening of public and high schools, September 10th.-Teeswater voted for opening of both ladies' and men's bev- erage rooms. Wingham assessment set at $1,660,128. September 17th.-District Welfare of- fice opened here. September 24th-Advance-Times on radio program "Patriarchs and Pap- ers" over CKNX October 1st,-Lieut.-Col. Elmer D. Bell, of Exeter, appointed to command of the 21st. Anti-Tank Regiment (Re- serve), replacing Lieut4Col. R. S. Hetherington, of Wingham, who has retired. October 8th.-Council discussed pos- sibility of anti-noise by-law and two hour parking. Record entries at 93rd. Howick Fall Fair and large entry of horses. October 15th-Dr. W, A, Beecroft heads radio mission, October 22nd.-WOAA annual meeting W adopts OHA rules. Rummage sale V earns $873. for Hospital Auxiliary.
