ed last week to retaliate if processing
firms, which also make feeds and fer-
tilizers, discriminate against the pro-
posed central hog marketing agency.
They passed a resolution Providing
"If discrimination does take place that
all farmers immediately discontinue
the purchase of feeds and fertilizers
Manufactured and distributed hY them
until such time ea it is proved this
diserimination Is not practised."
The producers also discussed how
to inform the consuming public of
the heavy decline_ in hog prices paid
the farmer thus cutting his purchas-
ing power, and described as "unwar-
ranted" the latest $3 per hundred-
weight reduction on light hogs by the

Belmore and Glenannan school con
cents were both held on the same
night,, December 17th, which was
disappointment to some, though both
had good crowds,
The program in Belmore opened
with a scene from Bethlehem, and
with song and story and suitable
dress, the children portrayed "The
Birth of a King," A varied program
followed, of dialogues and dances by
both Juniors and Seniors, in beauti-
ful costumes, a sailor drill, recitations
by the Juniors and choruses by both
Juniors and Seniors. "The Wedding of
the Painted Doll," by the tiny tots was
lovely and much merriment was cre-
ated by "Belling the Cat," also by the
small children, Mrs. Harvey Ballagh
acted as pianist throughout.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs,
Lorne Ballagh newlyweds. We wel-
come Mrs. Ballagh to the community
Santa Claus paid his annual visit to
McIntosh Sunday School Christmas
tree and entertainment on Tuesday
evening, December 16th, bringing
much joy. He also brought many gifts
and bags of candies to a large group
of boys and girls and adults. A very
interesting program preceded his visit,
put on by pupils of No. 1, No. 15 and
the 4th line schools, together with the
Busby and Gilmar quartettes. Camer-
on Taylor presented seals to a number
of pupils for faithful attendance. ,
The collectors, who have canvassed
the McIntosh and Belmore district in
aid of the Bible Society, have just
completed their work and $191 has
been sent in from this branch for
this very worthy' work.
The members of the Presbyterian Y.
P,S. visited the shut-ins,of the com-
munity, singing carols for them, one

evening just before Christmas,
Quite a number from here, were at
Bluevale last Sunday night, when the
choirs of Belmore and Bluevale put
on a carol singing service. Rev. Bailie
gave the history of the hymns, and
the choir sang them, There were solos,
quartettes and choruses, a very en-
joyable program,
All her friends will be glad to know
that Miss Jean Inglis enjoyed a three
day leave from the San. at Christmas.
She spent Christmas with her mother
and sister in Kitchener and on Fri.

Mrs, Norman Baler, formerly of
Belmore, was also home for three days
from the Byron Sanatorium, to her
home in Mitchell, for the first time,
with hopes of getting home to stay in

of Windsor, and Mr. and Mrs. John
Worden and Linda, of St. Paul's, spent
Christmas with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Thorhas Abraham. We wish at
this time to extend our congratula-
tions to Mr. and Mrs. John Abraham,
who were just recently married.
A family gathering was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fitch on
Christmas day when the family of Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Fitch were present.

a week with the former's parents, Mr

Mr. names Renwick is a patient in
Wingham Hospital after suffering
painful head injuries in an accident
on Friday night, At time of writing
Jim's condition is satisfactory and
his many friends join in wishing him
a speedy recovery.
Communion service was conducted
by the minister, Rev. J, H. Martin, in
McIntosh United Church on Sunday
morning, when he took his text from
Corinthians 3:21. In his remarks he
urged that all become Christians now
and to give all and all would be re-
turned to give us a wholesome feeling
of satisfaction. The choir rendered a
number entitled .'The Lord Is My
Shepherd".
The family of Mr. and Mrs. James
Stokes Sr., attended a family gather-
ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fral
ser Houghton on Wednesday, Decem-
ber 24th.
Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Hunkin spent
Boxing day at the home of the latter's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Hamilton, of
Cromarty.
Rev, J. H. Martin and Mrs. Martin
spent Christmas with their son, Dr.
Ronald Martin, and family, of Owen
Sound.
Mr. Metcalfe spent Christmas
day with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mul-
vey, of Fergus. Miss Anna Mulvey, of
Fergus, visited relatives here during
the holidays.
Members of the Darling and Dick-
son families spent Christmas with Mr.
and Mrs, Roy Rutherford and John.
Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bronson, of
Galt, visited over the holiday with the
letter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Row-
land Ballagh,
Rev. M. Bailie, minister of the Bel-
more and Bluevale congregations, will
conduct the Sunday evening devotion-
al period from 7.00 to 7.30 over CKNX
during the month of January.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Yack (nee
Doris Dustow), of Kitchener, visited
over the holiday with the latter's par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. icred Dustow.
Misses Dell and Patsy McIntyre, of
Owen Sound, are holidaying with Mr.
John and Miss Nellie Doig. ,
Mr. Roy Dustow, of Toronto, spent
the past week with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Herb Dustow.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Atwood (nee
Muriel Gilmar), and family have mov-
ed to Teeswater where they will make
their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Connell, of Clinton,
Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Ellis, of Summer-
hill, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Williamson
and Rodger, of Walkerton, were the
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dustow
on Sunday.

At a special meeting of the Port
Elgin council a motion was passed
concerning the appointment of Wil-
liam G. Campbell and John J. MdCor-
mick to a newly-formed Industrial
Commission for the Town of Port El.
gin.
Its chief duty will be to seek ways
and means of attracting new industry
to Port Elgin.
Mayor W. R. Tomlinson is also a
member of the commission with a
fourth appointee to be named at a
