MOHAWKS WIN FIRST
GAME AT HOME
It might not have been the best
hockey we've seen in Wingham, but
Saturday night's game with Listowel
here had a little bit of everything,
but moat important it was Wingham's
first win in three starts, The score
was 12-3. The Mohawks led the scor-
ing all the way and were never in any
danger of losing their lead,
It was quite awhile after game time
before the first puck was dropped,
due to a cracked cheek bone suffered
by Bob Sangster, when he was struck
by a puck taring the pre-game warm-
up. Young Ronnie Murray was dress-
ed for the game and filled the gap in
the net. Ron .did a swell job in goal.
Listowel couldn't seem to get un-
wound and contented themselves
with swinging their sticks hatchet-
fashion. Fortunately none of the Mo-
hawks were scalped. Roy Wilson
made his debut with the locals and
seemed to be getting back his old
speed in the dying moments of the
game, giving quite a display of fancy
skating.
With most of the play confined to
the Listowel territory even the de-
fencemen wanted to get into the act.
George Westlake had as many shots
on goal as some of the forwards and
earned himself a goal. Jack Pym
turned in his usual rugged game.
The line of Stainton, Ritter and. Sell
worked the smoothest on passing
plays with Bob Ritter netting two and
Murray Stainton one. Morley Chinn
topped all the scorers with three tal-
lies and a fine display of hockey.
Third Period Brawl
A third period rhubarb had most of
the players swinging at each other and
really got out of hand when the Lis-
towel coach let the rest of his team
out of the players' box. When the re-
ferees got them all separated one Lis-
towel player on the bottom had lost
much of his clothing. Everyone ap-
peared to have a good time, including
a few spectators who wanted to get
into action.
This brawl sent seven players to the
penalty box and the teams played
three to a side for ten minutes. Pen-
alty box space was at a premium with
ten lodgers seeking accommodation at
one time.
A fair-sized crowd saw the first
game here and had a chance to see
how the reserved s,,at system will
work.
