Anglican Brotherhood Meets The Brotherhood of Anglican Lay- men met in St. James' Church, Wrox- eter, for the annual meeting on Tues- day night. Strong. 1.0.B.A. Dinner and Bazaar Proceeds of the bazaar and hot din- ner sponsored by the members of the I.O.B,A. on Saturday amounted to $200. Huron County Road Banquet On Tuesday night, November 25th, Huron County road 'employees and their wives, enjoyed a turkey supper in the Gorrie community hall. The November meeting of the W.A. of the United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Lottie Thornton with 10 members and two visitors present. Group 3 was in charge_ of devotions, Hymn 388 was sung, Psalm 121 was read by Mrs. Murray Edgar, followed by prayer by Mrs. Russel Adams. A very interesting paper entitled, "The Power of Influence", was read by Mrs. Cliff Pyke, Hymn 308 was .then sung, after which a reading, "Acts of Omis- sion" was given by Mrs, Irving Toner. Hymn 148 was sung and the devotion- al Part of the meeting was closed by repeating the Lord's prayer in unison. Mrs. Allan Hyndmann presided over the business part of the meeting and Mrs. Buchanan, Mrs. Toner and the hostess served lunch. Young People's Union United Church Y.P.U, met on Fri-, day for a social evening In the church hall, Contests and a geography match were enjoyed, followed by a delicious lunch, Election of officers will be held at the next meeting, on November 29th in the church hall, at. 8 p.m. Caller for Group David Neilson was "caller" for the Newry group in the square dance competition at the Royal Winter Fair. The group won fifth place in the finals on Saturday night, at the close of the Fair, Condition Favorable The condition of Mr. Harry Fergu- son is reported as favorable following an operation on Sunday morning in the Wingham General Hospital to re- move fluid from his lung. Mr. Fergu- son was hurt when he fell two weeks ago, breaking two ribs and injuring his lung. Nomination for Howick Township council will be held in the community hall on Friday afternoon, November 28th. Personals Mrs, Carl Gregg has gone to To- ronto to spend the winter months.
