The W.M.S, of the United Church
met on Wednesday of last week at
the home of Mrs. Robert Laidlaw with e

ing. Mrs. E. H. Groskorth and Mrs.
Herbert Laidlaw read the Scripture
lessons and Mrs. Gillespie gave the

last Tuesday evening drew a full house
and was enjoyed by all.

Young People's Meeting
The meeting of the Young People of
the Presbyterian Church was held on
Wednesday evening last with the pre-
sident, Mrs, Angus Falconer, presid-
ing. Ross McGregor ,read the
ture lesson and Rev. R. D. A, Currie
led in prayer and had charge of the
topic, on "Mission Work in Alberta."
Mr. Currie started his student mis-
sionary work in the Peace River Dis-
trict, and gave a very interesting talk
on the work there. The meeting was
closed with the Mizpah Benediction.
Whiteehurch residents had a little
surprise on Saturday when Santa
Claus and his four elves arrived to
take the train from here for Wing-
ham.
Brick W.M.S.
Brick Church W.M.S. met on Wed-
nesday last at the home of Mrs. Chas.
Shiell, with 16 ladies present, and with
Mrs. Allan Pattison presiding. The
Scripture lesson was read by Dorothy
Pattison and Mrs. McRitchie led in
prayer. Four ladies, Mrs. Leslie
Wightman, Dorothy Pattison, Mrs.
McRitchie and Mrs. George Walker
presented a short skit on the study
book chapters on "Education in An-
gola, Africa." Mrs. Harry Cook gave
a very interesting report of the Pres-
byterial at Beigrave. The ladies have
almost reached their financial alloca-
tion and are making plans to pack a
bale of second hand clothing and give
another life membership, Mrs. Irwin,
Mrs. A. Leaver and Mrs. Dow were
appointed to bring in a slate of offic-
i ere' at the next meeting. The Benedic-
tion closed the meeting.

in Westminster Hospital.
Mr. Russell Chapman opened his
new I.G.A. store in the village one day
last week. It is quite an improvement
and an attraction as a buying centre.

Saturday with Mrs. Ezra Scholtz.
Mr.'and Mrs. Gordon Nicholson and
Gerald, of Morris, visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Edward McBurney.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Coyne and
children, of Windsor, spent a, few days
last week at the home of her sister,
Mrs. Lawrence Taylor, and with other
Robinson relatives in E. Wawanosh.

The annual meeting of the W.M.S.
of the Presbyterian Church was held
on Thursday last with 13 ladies pres-
ent, and with the president, Mrs. Wal-
ter Lott, presiding. Mrs. Albert Wal-
ters gave the call to worship from
Psalm 100, and led in the responsive

and Mrs. John McGee and Mr. and
Mrs. Myles Ste, Marie attended the

held a very successful afternoon tea
and bazaar in the Auxiliary rooms,
Lucknow, on Saturday afternoon,
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Miller and
Larry, , of London, and Mr. Murray
Taylor, of Wingham, were week-end
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. C. Taylor.
