Mrs. Amy Rutherford, Miss Mar- garet Rutherford, and Mr. and Mrs. Al McGuire, and •baby son, of °oder. ich; called on friends here on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Johann and David, of Teesw.ater, and Mr. and Mrs. W. Walker and sons, of Beigrave, vis- ited ,Mrs. Joharin and Wilfred on Sun- day evening. Mrs, Tohn Harper has returned home after spending several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. J. Douglas, of Clif- ford. Mr. and, Mrs, Roy Gowdy spent a few days this past week in Toronto, where Mrs. Gowdy was undergoing treatment. Mr, George Inglis, Mr, Ed, Gilmar and Mr. Ed., Vittie, attended a re..un- ion of the 58th battalion in Toronto on Saturday. Mr, and Mrs. W. Merkley and fam- ily and Mr. and Mrs, Harley Merk- ley attended the 45th anniversary celebration, held in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Copeland of Wroxeter, on Thursday night. Misses Joy, Maxine, Dorothy and Master Worthy IVIcNee, visited with relatives at Dungannon over the week-end. W. I. The November meeting of the W. I. will be held in the community hall, on Wednesday, November 12th, at 2,30, Mrs. (Rev.) Bailie, of Bluevale, will be the guest speaker, All are invited. Mrs. J. S. Inglis spent the past two weeks in Kitchener with Mr. arid Mrs. Earl Halliday. Miss Jean Inglis was able to spend an afternoon with them. We are pleased to report that a little two month's old girl has come .0401181111M0.11.111P. to make her home with Mr, and Mrs. T, L, Inglis and Ian, Quite a number from here attended a Hallowe'en masquerade dance at S. S. No. I, OulrosS, on Friday night. Preparatory Service Due to the illness of Rev. Bailie, Rev, A, Simpson, of Teeswater, had charge of the preparatory service in the Presbyterian Chruch on Thursday evening. He preached an earnest pre. communion sermon, and administered baptism to Sharon Elizabeth, infant daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Herb Bur- Hallowe'en Party The Belmore teacher, Miss Kay MacLennan, planned a Hallowe'en party for the children on Friday af- ternoon. The mothers and the pre- school children were invited. Games were played and lunch was served, and all report a grand time. Costumes were judged by Mrs. H. Boyd and Worthy IVIcNee. V.M.S. The regular meeting of the' W,M.S. of the Belmore United Church were held Wednesday afternoon at the home ,of Mrs, R, , Rutherford. The meeting took the form of a quilting at which fourteen ladies worked. Mrs. Rutherford volunteered to take orders for Christmas cards to be purchased by the members. A sumptuous lunch was served by the hostess, Personals Mrs. Wilmot Jeffray and son, Mr. William Jeffray, of Toledo, Ohio, spent a few days this past week with the Jeff ray family, Mr, and Mrs. Clayton Tremble and family visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Fitch Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gowdy spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Anson McCluskey, of Kittleby, - and accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. McCluskey, visited in Peterboro. Mrs. Robert Jeffray and Mrs. Ivan Haskins have been on the sick list this past week. We hope for them a speedy recovery. Quite a number of the girls in the vicinity have formed a Sewing Club and are meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Doubledee every Wednesday night. Mrs. Doubledee, Misses Jean Harris and Mary Will are the leaders of the project "Cottons are Smart". The girls report a very enjoyable and profitable time at these meetings. Cincinnati, Ohio, rent controllers threatened to clamp down on a land- lady. To beat a $32 a month ceiling on her house, she built a new dog- house behind it (no ceiling on new construction), to rent for $55.
