"Clothes make the man", says the old adage. But today
more and more men are learning that they can also
enhance their standing with certain people by owning
life insurance.
Take employers, for instance. To them a man's
ownership of life insurance suggests that lie is fore.
sighted, thrifty, realistic, Abode all, it reflects willing,
ness to accept responsibility an attitude that
impresses every employer.
In fact, anyone who learns that a man owns life insure
ante regards him with added respect. They know that
it represents one of the most important assets any mail
can'have.
Yet perhaps the most important effect of owning life
insurance is on t he policyholder himself, it gives him
a sense of achievement. Por in to other way can he
create such a valuable estate for so little in so short
a time.
So life insurance can do more than provide financial
security for your family and yourself in later years.
It also influences people in ways that help win success 1

One of Winghani's taxpayers re-
Marked, to the editor the Other day:
"I Was at the Qouneil meeting and 1.
made up my mind who to vote for."
That's right, Ratepayers should drop
in occasionally and hear the "`debates"'
and get an idea of "Parliamentary pro-
cedure" (1) It helps to widen a man's
horizon to see hew legislators, even In
municipal affairs, do things. Of course
we need to remind our readers of the
fact that a man's value as a muni-
cipal legislator should not be jpdged
by the amount of talk he indulges in
at the Council. We have known instan-
ces of those who talked the most, but
said the least.
The Inspector for the Fire Under-
writers was here recently and made a
"test" of our fire-fighting capabilities.
Of course, the firemen thought it was
a real fire, and were promphy on
hand, Only the Mayor knew it was a
"test"; he knows a thing or two (we
have this en the authority of Mr.
Spotton's most intimate friends.) Some
think the test was "not a success,"
but judging 'from the noise" after-
ward and the length of the Council
meeting (314 hours) discussing it, we
judge that it must have been a "howl-
ing success." Some say there was not
enough "pressure," while otherS felt
that so far as they were concerned,
the "pressure" Was quite heavy
enough. Neither did the man at the
hydrant complain s of the lack of
"pressure," when the water soused
lop to move on Pfitalt9.
