Board Holds
Regular Meeting
The regular meeting of the Turn-
herry school area" board was held in
Powell's school on Thursday, Sentent-
her 18th,, at 8.30 p.m. All members
present,
The minutes of the previous meet-
ings ,were read and adopted on mot-
ion of Holmes and Mundell, The fol-
lowing correspondence was read:
J, R. Sheriff, Crawford & Hethering-
ton, Huron County Library, Classroom
Filmstrip program and J. H. Kinkead.
Mr. Herb Foxton and Mr. and Mrs.
M. Foxton were present re the care-
taking of No. 11. Motion by Holmes
and Mundell that Mrs. Foxton receive
ten dollars a month extra for four
months for the caretaking of the
second room at No. 11 and that she
receive seven dollars for the extra
cleaning in September, of the same
room. carried.
Motion by Powell and Kirton that
,Hardie, Holmes and Mundell be a
committee to see about a stove for
the extra room at No. 11. Sec.-treas.
was instructed to write a letter to
the council re school signs.
Motion by Powell and Kirton that
the following bills be paid. carried.
Teachers, caretakers and transpor-
tation salaries: A. D. Smith, stamps,
$10,00; Fred Elliott, trucking, $4.00;
Wroxeter Telephone tolls, $3.65; How-
ick Mutual Fire Ins., $17,85; Henry

Motion by Powell and Mundell that
meeting adjourn, next meeting to be
in Kirton's school, October 16th., at
8 p.m.
Special Meeting
Aw special meeting was held in the
Lower Town school in August. All the
members were present. Motion by
Holmes and Kirton that F. Green be
paid $50.00 for work on No. 2 school,
Carried. Motion by Mundell and Pow-

gon, renew old endships here last
week, Members of a. former well-
known Gorrie family, they are craugh,
ters of the late T. H, McLaughlin and
resided in the home now owned by
Chas. Finlay. It is some 42 years since
they left Gprrie, Their last visit was
In 1941. They. were accompanied by
Misses Coones and Soles, also of Ore.

Conservation Authority Tour

Woman's Auxiliary
The October meeting of the W. A.
of St. Stephens Church will be held
on Thursday afternoon, October 2nd,
at the home of Mrs. John Dinsmore,
Theme for roll call "Thanksgiving".
Cars will leave the residence of Mrs,
H. V. Holmes at 2.10 p.m.

A wedding of interest to this com-
munity took place in Riversdale Unit-
ed Church on Saturday, September
27th., when Rev. Procter of Teeswater
united in marriage Dorothy Joan,
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Church will be held at the home of
Mrs. Lottie. Thornton, on Thursday
evening, October 2rid, Program com-

Edgar; Mrs, H, Robinson and Mrs. R.
Marn.s. Tbig Will be the associate
members meeting.
Tyro and Trail Rangers
All boys interested in Tyro and
Trail Ranger work will meet at the
church on Wednesday, October 1st,
at 7 o'clock.
C.O.I.T. Hold First Meeting -
The first meeting of C.G,I.T, was
held on September 25th., in the base-
ment of the United. Church, under the
leadership of Anna Toner, assisted by
Mrs. Buchanan. The meeting opened
with a ring song, There were 13 pre-
sent. The officers elected are as fol-
lows; Hon. president, Mrs. Buchanan;
president, Marguerite Ford; vice-pre-
sident, Fern Cook; Secretary, Marlene
Feigel; treasurer, Marie Hastie; pian-
ist, Ruth Toner; press reporter, Bar-
bara Walmsley. Many topics were
suggested for the following year.
Meetings will be geld every two weeks
and the next one will be at Anna
Toners. The meeting was closed by
singing "Fairest Lord Jesus" followed
by taps.

Graham and Son, Alex, were week-end
visitors with relatives,

tended the Harvest Thanksgiving ser-
vice in St. Paul's church on Sunday

visited on Thursday and Friday with
the former's brother, Mr .Mervyn
Walker and Mrs. Walker in Coldwater.
Mr. and Mrs, George Brown, John
and Jean, visited on Sunday with
Mrs, Fred Lewis, Sr.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Jardine, and Miss
Joyce Jardine, London, visited with
Miss Margaret Jardine, Wroxeter,
Sunday and attended the United
Church anniversary servicep.s.
Mr., and Mrs. Ken Underwood have
taken up residence in the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Finlay and Mrs.
Jennie Edgar attended the Molesworth
Presbyterian anniversary services on
Sunday.
Mrs. Minnie Scott, Owen Sound,
and Mr. Fred Wiggins, Midland, spent
last Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs,
Jas. Edwards.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Edgar visited
on Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Cameron Stewart, 1VIolesworth,
and attended the Presbyterian anni-
versary service.
Mr. Jas. Douglas, Belmore, spent a
few days with his brother, Mr. Thos.
Douglas and Mrs. Douglas.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Plant, George
and Audrey, of Allenford, visited the
former's mother, Mrs. Bertha Plant
on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen. Black, of Hamil-
ton, and Mr. 'Geo. Black, of Paris,
spent a few days last week among
the Edgar families.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl King, Carol and
Douglas, and Mrs, W. King visited on
Sunday afternoon with the latter's
aunt, Mrs. Eliazbeth Purrott, Hamil-
ton.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Edwards, Valeria
and Ted, Toronto, spent the week-end
with Mr, and Mrs. E. H. Strong and
other friends.
Miss Grace Robertson, of London,
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Robson, and family
Mrs. John Robson and son, Cameron,
all of Durham, and Mr. Birks Robert-
son, and Cameron, Teeswater, spent
Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Glad Edgar.
Miss Kathleen Cathers, Toronto,
spent the week-end at her home.
Mrs, Lottie Thornton, Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Wm,
Bremner, Ethel, returned on Friday
from a motor trip to Edmonton and
Banff, going by way of Northern Ont-
ario and returning through the United
States.
Mrs. Austin Hawthorne, Listowel,
and Miss Eileen Hawthorne,Durham,
visited on Saturday with Mr. Robert
Cathers.
Rev, Todd of Wroxeter, had charge
of the service in the United Church
on Sunday morning as Rev. Buchanan
was guest speaker at the Wroxeter
anniversary services. Rev. Todd chose
as his theme the "Stewardship of Life"
taking' his text from 1 Car. 4:2, "More-
over it is Required in Stewards that
a Man be Found Faithful".
Mr. and Mrs, Carl Pennington and
family, of Teesvvater, visited with
relatives here on Sunday.
Donna Marie, daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. Stewart Strong, was received
into the church by baptism at the
regular service at St. Stephen's church
on Sunday afternoon. The rector, Rev.
G. D. Vegan, chose as his theme, "The
Baptismal Prayer".

BLUEVALE
Donald Daring, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Stanley Darling, was home from Tor-
onto for the week-end.
Mrs. Darling's sister and brother-in-
law, Mr. and Mrs. George Valiance
of Toronto, were week-end guests
there.
Mr. George Vallance's mother died
suddealY) in Harriston on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Darling attended
the funeral on Monday.
