Thomas Ritchie
Active In Community
In Wingham General Hospital, on
Sunday, Sept. .14, there entered into
rest a well-known and highly esteem-
ed citizen of the Wroxeter community
in the person of Thomas Ritchie, He
had been an invalid for a number of
years, and for more than the past
three years was a patient in the Wing-
ham Hospital.
In his 87th year, Mr. Ritchie was a
son of the late James Ritchie and
Margaret Henderson and was born
in North Dumfries, Waterloo County.
With his parents he came to Howick ;-
Township when young. He farmed 7
until his retirement to the village of 1111
Wroxeter 30 years ago.

The choir sang "Beautiful Words of
Jesus" and the guest soloist was Mr,
Bernard Rutledge, of Wingham, He

House", and "Jesus .Saviour Pilot
Me".

A shower and dance was held Fri-
day evening in the Foresters' Hall,
here in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
Hartlin, (nee Muriel Anderson), who
were married recently. George Michie
addressed the couple and presented
them with a purse of money, on
behalf of the community, Tiffin's
Orchestra played for dancing.

home from Victoria Hospital, London.
Harvest Thanksgiving.
Trinity Anglican church was fit-
tingly decorated with flowers as well
as fruit, vegetables and grain for
the annual Harvest Thanksgiving
services held on Sunday, Both ser-
vices were taken by the Rector, Rev.
W. E. Bramwell, and were well
attended. In the morning he pointed
out that all our gifts, spiritual as
well as material, came from God and
we should remember to give thanks
always. In the evening he urged all
to make use of their various talents
and to develop them, taking care not
to let evil choke out the good in our
lives, Mrs. Art Scott sang the
beautiful solo "Bless this house" in
the morning. Clark Johnston sang
"Thanks be to God", and the choir
contributed the anthem "0 Lord,
how manifold are Thy works," in the
evening.
Mrs. Will Kelly has returned home
from visiting relatives and friends
in Saskatchewan and Edmonton,
Alberta.
Sympathy is extended to his sisters,
Mrs. Alex (Margaret) McKercher and
Mrs. Frank (Bessie) Sanderson, both
of Wroxeter, and his brother, Tyn-
dall, of Wingham. Two sisters pre-
deceased him, Mrs. Eleanor McLau-
ghlin, Winnipeg and Miss Jeanette
Ritchie, Wroxeeer,
Mr. Ritchie was a faithful member
of the Presbyterian Church and be-
fore his health failed had served as'
a choir member for many years. He
was fond of sports and an ardent cur-
ler and bowler. Through the long
years spent in the community the
qualities of this Christian gentleman
endeared him to all neighbours and
