Anderson and Mrs. 0. G. Anderson
and Graham, over the week-end. Dr.
Anderson has not been here since the
death of his father, the late Finlay
Anderson, who passed away in 1932,
He found many changes and missed
many faces of twenty years ago.
Mr. Andrew Wallace, of Sacramento,
California, was a guest at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent on
Friday, lin the evening members of
the Wallace family gathered there
and were shown slides of the beauty
'spots 'in Towle, Cal., and Sierra, Ne-
vada. Mr. Wallace, who spent the past
two months 'in Ontart, leaves this
week :for California.

to Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Jacklin, (nee
Velma Cook) a daughter.
Visitors with Mrs. Laura Johnson
recently were: Misses' Margaret and
Maude Yuill of Carleton Place, Mr,
and Mrs. Michael Rezonsoff, of St.
Catherines, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray-
mond Petrie, of Herkimer, New York.
Mr. and Mrs. John F, McCallum and
Jim, Mrs. Albert Cook, Mr. John E.
McCallum and Finlay McCallum at-
tended the funeral of their cousin, the
late Duncan McCallum, in Burling-
ton last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Chamney and
family visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. Jas. O'Brien of Kincardine,
and spent the afternoon at Tobermory.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pattison spent
Sunday With Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hig-
gins.
Mr. Jos. Yuill is a patient in Vic-
toria Hospital, London, having under-
gone an operation there on Saturday.
We wish him a 'speedy recovery,
Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Higgins and
Jerry, and Mrs. Louise Warwick, visit-
ed on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Fitch and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
Haskins, at Belmore.
Mr, and Mrs. Levi Bieman and
family, spent Sunday with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry MacKay at Wal-
kerton.. Mr.. and Mrs. MacKay return-
ed home with them and will spend a
few weeks in • the community.

nary of the organization of the auxil-
lazy in October.
Reports of the secretary and the
treasurer were accepted and visits to
the sick and shut-ins were reported,

Mrs. McBmiley gave a most inter-

of Miss Lily Simpson, a returned mis- •
sionary from Thansi, in India, who is Fit at present in Vancouver, B. C. The

of a hymn and prayer by the presi-

The mission hand purpose was re-
peated and Lois Conk gave a prayer

,the last meeting were read. The offer-U ing was taken by Linda Coultes and
Marilyn Campbell followed by the roll
call. "The World Friends" were dis-N
tributed by Bobby Marks and Roger
Bieman. The hymn, "Away in a
Manger," was sung. The smaller
children went into their room where
they were told stories by Mrs. E.

Wightnaan, The older ones discussed
Africa. The hymn, "Jesus Loves Me,"
1 was sung. The meeting closed with
the Lord's Prayer.

spending some holidays with his aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith.
Mrs. Ken Davison and Karol Lynn,
Glencoe, are visiting With her parents,

family, of Lucknow, visited with Mr.

A very pretty fall wedding was sol-
emnized at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept-
ember 6th., in the Presbyterian church
here, when Rey, R. D. A. Currie, unit-
ed in marriage, Miss Kathleen Ruth
Forster, eldest daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Wm. Forster, of West Wawa-
nosh, and Mr. George Walter Elliott,
younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Elliott, of E. Wawanosh, Miss Joan
Forster, was her sister's bridesmaid,
and Mr. Mitchell Elliott was his bro-
ther's best man. Mrs. Bert Dickson
was the soloist, and sang "I Love you
Truly," and "I'll Walk Beside You"
ac,companied by Mrs. Johnston Conn.
Following the marriage, the women
of the Ladies Aid of the church serv-
ed the wedding dinner in the S. S.
room of the Church to over forty
guests. The many friends of the
young couple extend best wishes
for a long and happy wedded life.
The young folks of the community
treated the wedding party to the tra-
ditional happy-go-lucky truck-ride
through the village.
Little Miss Nancy Curran, of St.
Helens, spent the week-end at the
home of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and
Mrs, Archie Purdon.
Douglas Gaunt, Wayne Martin, Ron-
ald Beecroft and Donna Rintoul start-
ed off to Fordyce School last week.
Dies of Injuries JI
We note the passing during the past
week of Mrs. Fred Graham, of Conn,
following a 'car accident, in which
both she and Mr. Graham were badly
injured. Mrs. Graham was a sister of
the late Mrs. Robert Carrick of the
village, and was also an aunt of Mr.
Charles Leaver.
Mrs. Harry Tichbourne, of Goderich,
spent a few days last week with her
mother, Mrs. David Kennedy.
Miss May Cox, of Toronto, spent the
week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
A ,E Buckten. Mrs. Gilbert Hamilton
and family of Lucknow, spent Sunday
there.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Proctor, David
such busy and useful lives even with
such grave handicaps.
Miss Leah Currie, Wingham, and
her niece, Miss Janet Gaunt, of Kin-
loss, spent a few days last week at
the Toronto Ex,, and visited at cue
home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hook,
Miss Helen Rintoul, nurse-in-train-
ing at Galt General Hospital, spent
Sunday at the home 'of Mr. and Mrs.
Cordon Rintoul, and visited with
other Purdon and Rintoul relatives
here for a few days.
Mr, Charles Leaver returned home
last Wednesday, after spending two
weeks with Toronto relatives and
taking in the Exhibition.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Majury and
family, of Paisley, and Mr, and Mrs.
Maurice Young and two chiairen, (.1
Eden Grove, spent Sunday at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Coultes.
Mrs. Mac Ross, who spent the past
few weeks with Rev. and Mrs. G. 0.
Cox of Fonthill, returned home on
Friday.
Mrs.J. J. Tiffin is again at her
home in the village, after visiting for
some time . with her sister, Mrs. Fred
Thompson, of Toronto.
Six little boys, Leonard James,
Bruce McGregor, Bevin Tiffin, Elwyn
Moore, Jimmie Ross and Barry Hen-
derson started off to school last week
at Whitechurch.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Henry and fam-
ily entertained their neighbours,
thirty-three in all, at their home last
Friday evening and treated them to
a corn-roast. The evening was spent
in cards and dancing. All enjeyed the
social time together.
Mr. Wes McMillan left last week
to look after the harvest on hie farm
at Scotsguard, Sask.
Mr. and Mrs, Allan Leader, and
Judy, of London, spent the past two
weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Jas. E. Currie. Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Gaunt, Janet and Donald, also visited
there on Sunday
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Thompson visit-
Wight, of Thedford.
Over one hundred friends and rela-
tives met last Tuesday evening at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Inglis, in
honour of their fiftieth wedding an-
niversary. Mrs. Kenneth McKenzie
and Mrs. Roy Finlayson, of Lucknow
served, and Mrs. R. H. Thompson
poured tea. Music was supplied by loc-
al talent for the dancing.
Mr, and Mrs, Albert Wight, of Ar-
hone, visited on Thursday with Dow
and Martin relatives, in E, Wawanosh,
Mr, and Mrs. Jas. Currie spent a few
days this week at the home of Mr,
and Mrs, Allan Leader ef London, and
attended the Fair there.
Mrs. Walter Lott had her letter
drawn on the Quiff program over
CKNX on Friday morning and was
the lucky winner of $30. The question
was, how much dirt is in a hole, 6 ft.
by 4 ft. by 5 ft. deep and Mrs. Lott
answered, no dirt, the correct answer.
Mr. and Mrs, Marcel Phillion and
girls of Woodstock, and her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Jos, Thompson, of Blyth,
visited on Sunday with Robinson rela-
tives in E. Wawanosh.
The W.M.S. of Brick United Church
are entertaining the W.M.S, ladies
of St. Helens and Whitechurch and
other WM.S, groups on Wednesday at
their church,
Mr. and Mrs. Jas, Falconer and Lois,
and Mrs. Cecil Falconer and her
grandson, Allan, visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Calvert Falconer of
Blyth.
Mr, and Mrs, Percy Everitt and four
children, of London, were visitors in
this community on Sunday, renewing
old acquaintances, They visited the
home of his boyhood, where Mr. and
Mrs. Jas. Falconer, now reside, and
with Mr. and Mrs. Amos Cornelius,
Mr. Eifid Mrs. Bert Jackson and Mr.
and Mrs. Amhie Montgomery, of
Blyth, and Mr. Jim Craig, of Windsor
visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Angus Falconer,
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Thompson spent
Thursday last at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Allan McGill, of Turnberry. Mr.
and Mrs. McGill, and their son, Stew-
art, left on Saturday to spend three
months at San Francisco, with his
brother, Mr. Norman McGill. They
intend to tour the Southern States
during the fall months. Mr. and Mrs.
Orville Hastings, and baby, Beverley,
of Wingham, have taken over the
farm home and work until Mr. and
Mrs. McGill return home.
Elgin Sleightholm, Billie Wall and
Helen Currie, from Zetland School sec-
tion, started off to Lower Wingham
school this Monday morning. Miss
Frances Walker of Winghane is tea-
ching the first three grades in the
basement of the school, and the child-
ren are taken to and from school in
the Wingham District High School
bus, driven by Mr. Agnew of Luck-
now.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Congram and
family, of Holyroocl, visited on Sun-
day at the home of his sister, Mr
Chas. Shiell.

tives. The Proctor family had been on
a motor trip through Ontario and
Quebec, returning here from Ottawa,
Peterhoro, Lake Simcoe and Owen
Sound.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson spent
Sunday at the home of Mr, and Mrs
Henry Mathers, of Bluevale.
Mrs. Frank Thompson returned
home from. Montreal on Friday last,
after visiting there with Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs:Raymond Petrie, of Her-
kimer, New York, spent the week-end
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward
-McBurney and with other Yuill rela-
tives in Morris and Belgrave. Mr. and
Mrs. McBurney accompanied her
father, Mr. Jos. Yuill to Victoria Hos-
pital, London, on Friday, where he

Rev. W. J. Watt had charge of the
services in Londesboro United Church
on Sunday. Rev, and Mrs. Robert
Watt and family, of Mitchell, visited
on Sunday with his parents, Rev. and
Mrs. W. J. Watt.
Mr. 'Kenneth Cameron, Lucknow,
Mr. Archie Peebles, Wingham, and Mr.
Fred Newman, attended the Post-
master's convention, held in Preston
on Monday and Tuesday.
Seven little children, Jimmie Robin-
son, Janet Watson, Billie Naylor,
Douglas Bieman, George Bieman and
Linda Johnston, commenced school
last week .at S. S No. 7. E. Wawanosh,
with Mr. 'Wm. Bieman taxing the
children beyond the two mile limit
from the school on the 9th.
Mr. Harold Walker returned home
from Wingnam Hospital on Saturday,
after spending a week there following
an appendix operation.
Mr. and Mrs, Elmer Ireland of E.
Wawanosh, left last Thursday to
spend the week-end with Toronto
friends and attended the Ex. for a
few days.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Coultes return-
ed from Oak Park, Chicago, on Sun-
day last, and Mrs. Earl Caslick, who
had been staying at the Coultes home,
returned to her home in the village.
Miss Grace Richardson of Tees-
water, is a patient in Wingham Hos-
pital, suffering from a bone infection.
Johnston Funeral
The funeral of the late David John-
ston was held on Thursday last from
the Currie Funeral Home in Wing-
ham, to Wingham cemetery, with Rev.
a L. Parker, of the Anglican Church,
officiating. He was in his 72nd. year
and had been a patient in Wingham
Hospital, for the past seven weeks,
following an accident on Teeswater
Road, Besides his two sons, John and
William ,and their families, he leaves
to mourn him, two sisters, Mrs. Sam
Hutchison, Wingham, and Mrs. Will
Conn, of Kinloss. The pallbearers were
Wallace and Johnston Conn, Jamieson
Pettapieee, Leslie Bryce, Wilfred Mc-
ICague and Mr. Metcalfe.
People in this community were very
much interested in the story of Ihe
Deaf-Mute family in Saturday's Pic-
ture Magazine of the London Free
Press. Mr. William Hazlitt Married
Miss Elsie Montgomery, an East Wa-
wanosh girl, acid a sister of Mr, Lloyd
Montgernery. Many times this jolly
family group have been noticed on
Winghane streets, when they were hi
this district visiting relatives, We
all rejoice that they are able to lead
