Reeent guests of Mr. and Mrs. El-
dred Nichol were Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Barrett and daughter, Joanne, of
Hamilton. Mr, and Mrs. A. Chalk-
Combo, Toronto, are spending this
Week at the Nichol home.
Mr. and Mrs. George Moore and
daughters, Elizabeth and Evelyn, all
of Galt, were Friday visitors with
Mrs, Frank Sanderson and Mrs, Mar-
garet McKercher,
Mrs. Leslie, who has spent the past
weeks with relatives at Calgary, has
returned to the home of her uncle, Mr.
John Kirton, Mr, and Mrs. Oscar
Allen, Viscount, Sack„ who have been.
staying with Mr. Kirton, hay& return-
ed to their home in the West.
MISS A. B. Fraser, La Riviere,
Manitoba, arrived on Saturday to visit
her sister. Mrs. S. Lovell. Other
week-end visitors with Mrs. Lovell
were Mr, and Mrs. Will Fraser, Mrs.
R. Glendenning and Mrs, Earl Des-
mond, all of Ridgetown.
Mr. and Mrs. X. S. Aikenhead
London, spent Friday with Mrs, D. S,
MacNaughton and. John.
Mr. and Mrs, Eldred Nichol were in
Kincardine one day last week attend-
ing the funeral of a relative, the late
Fred liedley.
Mrs. F, Taylor, of Gorrie, spent
several days last week with Miss
Beatrice and Mr. Thos. Shearer.
Miss Winifred Munro returned to
Cleveland with Mr. and Mrs. Al
Schott who were holiday visitors at
the Munro Cottage, .Amberley. Win
plans to return home by plane.
John Sanderson, son of Mr, and
Mrs. Alex Sanderson, of Harristpn,
will teach this year at S.S, 1 Minto
township. John's mother is well
known here, the former Cassie Mac-
Dougall _, of Wroxeter.
Miss Patricia Bowker, Toronto,
spent the past week with J, PI, and
Mrs. Wylie,
Mr. Hopper of Brussels will have
charge of the service in United
Church on Sunday next, August 24th.
The following Sunday, Rev. E. W.
Todd will have returned from holidays
and will take charge of the service on
August 31st.
Misses Marian and Elsie Gibson,
also Mrs. John Gibson, of Chicago,
who is their guest, are motoring to
Montreal this week. Miss Marian
Gibson will take a plane to Britain
where she will spend a year. Her
many friends here wish her a safe
journey and a pleasant year in the
old land.
'Dr, and Mrs. Maxwell MacFarlane
and daughter, Frances, who have
spent the past three weeks visiting
here and at Ottawa, left for their
home in Winnipeg.
Mr. Mac Allen of Montreal will join
Mrs. Allen and son, Dick, for holi-
days here.
Mrs. Charles McCutcheon has invit-
ed friends to a tea on. Thursday
afternoon in honour of her daughter,
Miss Audrey McCutcheon, whose
marriage to Mr. Oliver Riley, Brussels
will take place on August 27th, at the
home of the bride. Miss McCutcheon
has for some years been a valued
member of the local telephone office.
Mr. and Mrs, Norman Brandon,
Toronto, were Friday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Timm,

Members of the Women's Institute
will hold their ,September meeting in
the Masonic Club Rooms on Wednes-
day, September $rd, Mrs. Knight
will have charge of the motto, "Look
backward with gratitude, Look TIP-
upward with 'confidence, Look for-
ward with Hope". Topic For Home
and Country prepared by Mrs. D. S.
KacNanghton, Roll call-What would
be the first thing you would grab if
your house was on fire? Arrange-
ments will be made for the Howick
Fall Fair, and delegates will be
appointed to the convention of Guelph.
Area which will take place in Hitch-
'ener on October 7-8, Plans will also
be made to entertain a nighboring
institute in October. Hostesses are
Mrs. Thos, Brown, Mrs. W, T. Mae-
Lean and Mrs, IVIcKercher,
Congratulations to Mrs. Percy
Coupland who was lucky in winning
$100 at a Bingo in Mildmay last Wed-
nesday night. The Bingo was spon-
sored by the firemen of that town. it
was the top special prize.
Mr. and Mrs. John Barlow and
family were week-end visitors with
Mrs. James Sangster. Miss Eva
Sangster, who has been their guest
for the past two weeks, returned with
them, and Mrs. Ruth MacDonald re-
turned to Toronto with them for a
holiday.
Mrs, Berle. Wightman, of Clifford,
spent the week-end with Mrs. Peter
Milligan. Mrs. Wightman was the
former Ina Milligan.
Mrs. Woodisse, of Drayton, has
spent the past two weeks with her
daughter Mrs. Gowing. Mrs. Woodisse
in her 85th year is still able to keep
house and lives with her son on a
farm near Drayton.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rae visited the
former's mother on Thursday. They
were returning to their home in
Brantford following a holiday trip to
Sault Ste Marie.
1VIrs. Scott Hunter and small daugh-
ter, Blenheitn, are holidaying with her
family here while Scott, a member of
the staff of the Bank of Commerce,
is relieving in another Branch,
Jim Edgar, who has made his home
with Mr. and Mrs. Gowing in the
village, is spending .the holiday weeks
with his brother, Jack, at the farm,
Wroxeter south, Jack is on the staff
of Fort Frances Public schools.
Miss Marilyn MacLean, London,
spent the week-end at her home here.
Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence White on Sunday were Mr.
and Mrs. Henry' Barber, London, Mr.
R. Rann and Mr. and Mrs. Alkin
Rann, of Brussels.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Moffat, To-
ronto, also Mr. and Mrs. George
Seegmillar, Kitchener, spent the week-
end with Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Moffat
at their cottage, Amberley.
The boys returned frOm Kitchigami
Camp on Saturday well tanned and in
good spirits, following their holiday.
Now the girls are having their turn,
almost thirty in number. A change
of staff includes Mr. Johnston of
Clinton teaching nature study and
sports, A teacher of folk dancing too
was provided for the girls. The boys
last week entered into Competition
keenly.
Wroxeter Rockets have /been un-
lucky to lose two games to Belgrave
team in the finals. Better luck for
the coming games boys.

Miss Dorothy Robinson ,of Saska-
toon, is visiting her aunts, Misses
Mary and Beatrice Howe. She is •a
daughter of Mrs, Robinson (Georgia
Howe).
Miss Rona VanVelsor accompanied
Miss Beatrice Wade, Fordwich, to
Wyoming where they will visit Mr.
and Mrs. Harold Harralton, former
residents of this place,
Miss Hazel Sparling spent Sunday
with her sister, Mrs. Walter Eaton,
at Seaforth. Larry and Glenn Eaton
are spending a few days with Miss
Sparling.
S.S. No, 2 Turnberry has a new
paint job both inside and out, It has
improved the appearance and will be
a pleasant change for the teacher,
Mrs. Mary McKinney, and pupils
when school opens. Allister Green of
Wingham had the painting contract.
