death in Maniton, Manitoba, on
Aug. 7th, of Maude Cecilia Galbraith,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Wm. Galbraith, Howick, and wife of
the late James Foster, Manitou, Mani-
toba, She was born on con. 13,
Howick, and her girlhood was spent
here. Two brothers, Harry and Frank, Sunday evening.

Mrs, Jean MacDonald spent Sunday
at Sauhle Beach,
Mrs. O. Lawrence has returned to
her home after spending several weeks
in Toronto. Mrs, Lawrence attended
the induction at Lucknow of her son-
in-law, Rev. Harry Jennings.
Mr. and Mrs, Bill Edwards, London,
are spending holidays with the for-
mer's parents, Mr, and Mrs. James
Edwards, Week-end guests at the
same home were Miss Clelland, Scot-
land, and Mrs, V. Klemp, Harriston,
Mr, and Mrs. Reg. Wilson, Wood-
row and Margaret, of Ailsa Craig,
spent Monday with Mr, and Mrs, Har-
ry Ferguson.
Mr. and Mrs, Stewart Strong and
Donna Marie spent Sunday with Mr,
and Mrs. Ross A.rthurs at Kitchener.
Miss Betty Zimmerman has gone to
Clinton, where she will be on the
staff of the Clinton Hospital,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Templeman and
David, of Wingham, visited on Sun-
day at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Templeman.

riston, were Stinday visitors with Mr.
and Mrs, Sanford Zimmerman, Miss
Bonnie Zimmerman, Wingham, spent

Miss Clara Harper spent several
days last week in Kitchener.
Rev. G. Howse, Mrs. Howse and
Bert, of Alvinston, are spending a
few days with Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Ruttan and calling on Gorrie friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs,
Ken Arscott, Billy and Jimmy, of
Toronto, were week-end guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller.

Miss Evelyn Hupfer, of Wroxeter,
spent Sunday with Mrs. Archie Mil-

Mrs. Ernest King hal returned from
a trip to Haliburton County. Mr. and
Mrs. Percy Colmer, Gary and Donna
of Toronto, are spending this week
with Mr. and Mrs. King. Mr. Ern
King Jr., of Windsor, was a week-end

Mrs. J. Metcalfe, of Paisley, is vis-
iting her sisters, the Misses Emily
and Beatrice Potter.
Mrs. Wm, Corbett returned on Sat-
urday from a visit with relatives at
Oakville. She was accompanied on
her return by her cousins, Mr. and
Mrs. Webster Knowles and daughter,
of Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brown, of Can-
field, was a week-end visitor with
Mrs. Lottie Thornton and with other
relatives. Sunday visitors at the
same home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe.
Marshall and children, of Listowel
and Mr, and Mrs. T. Stokes and
children, of Glenannan.

leen Donnelly, Marie Hastie, Della
and Diane Irwin, Shirley and Arlene
Timm and. Rosemary Adams are
among those enjoying a holiday this
week at Camp Kitchigami near Gode-
rich, Ferne Cooke and Joan Hunstein
are also there as cabin leaders. .

Howick Jr. Farmers held a wiener
roast at the Community Park on
Wednesday night, their regular meet-
ing night, There was a good attend-
ance. -
Mrs. Ben Kerwin, of Clifford visited
last week with Mrs. Etta Pyke.
Mr. and Mrs, Bruce Horne ,and, two
sons of Toronto, have been visiting
with Mrs. Horne's mother, Mrs. Clara
Ritchie, and other relatives,
Mr. and Mrs, Laughic Ashton, and
their son, Mr, Bill Ashton, and Mrs.
Ashton called on relatives in •the
village on Saturday.
Mrs. E. Hastie, Mrs. Ken Hastie and
Mrs. W. C. King visited on Sunday
with Mrs. Lillian Underwood, Turn-
berry.
Miss Etta Burns visited last Mon-
day with Mrs, Sangster, Clifford.
Mrs. Minnie Irwin, Toronto, is visit-
ing with relatives here, Mrs. Irwin
returned recently from a trip to
California by plane. She visited a
daughter in California.
Mr. Jas. Shera is spending this
week with relatives in Englehart,
Miss Nora Taylor visited Tuesday
with her sisters in Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe McKnight and
little daughter, of Toronto, spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon
Brown. Mrs, Brown returned with
them for a visit in Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs, Malcolm Havers, of
Saskatoon, Sask., and their daughter,
Mrs. Ray Phipps, Edmonton, Alberta,
were recent visitors with Mrs. Haver's
sister, Mrs. Cliff Dodds, and Mr.
Dodds,
Mrs. Albert Hall and her grand-
daughter, Verna Hall, of Saskatoon,
Sask., are visiting with the former's
brothers, Robt. and Wm. Harrison.
Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Hobbs, Preston,
were also visitors at the same homes
last week.
Mrs. Jack Musgrove has returned
from a motor trip to Kingston, Mont-
real, Quebec City, Ottawa, and Peter-
borough. She accompanied her son
Mr. Bob Nay, and her sister, Mrs. P.
Merklinger, of Kitchener.
Mr. Ben Maguire is having extensive
improvements made to the mill dam.
Mr. Gordon Gibson and son, Craw-
ford, Wroxeter, have the contract.
The Pletch family held a reunion in
the Gorrie community park on Sun-
day, Aug. 10th, when 52 members
were present from Belgrave, Hanover,
Walkerton, Kitchener, Teeswater and
Gorrie.
Mr. and Mrs. Simpson and three
daughters, of Guelph, visited last
week with Mrs. Simpson's sister, Mrs.
Robt. Harrison, and Mr. Harrison.

Mr, John Gear, of Kitcnener, spent

Armond McBurney. Mrs. Gear, and
children, returned home with him.

John Dow, and David were Toronto
visitors on Wednesday.
Master John Campbeh is spending
this week with Mr. and Mrs. Everet
Whitehead, of Teeswater.

and Barbara Smith attended the girls'
camp, located north of Goderich, last
week.
Mrs. A. E. Johnston, of Donnybrook,
spent last week with her daughter,
Mrs. Howard Campbell.
The Mission Band held their regu-
lar meeting in the church school
room on Sunday afternoon with a
good attendance. The meeting opened
by repeating the member's purpose.
The Scripture was read by Gordon
Smith from 1st Cor., 13 Chap. Prayer
by Mrs. Norman McDowell. Readings
were given by Gwen McDowell and
John Campbell. The study book was
given by Mrs. Hugh Blair and the
story was told by Mrs, Norman Mc-
Dowell. The meeting closed with
prayer by Mrs. Blair.
Miss Violet Cook, accompanied by
Miss Annie Cook of Belgrave, is
spending a couple of weeks with
friends at Cochrane.
Mr. and Mrs. Marian Smith and
family, of Staples spent Saturday
with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Deans, of Guelph,
spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs.
Norman McDowell.
