Brussels visited on Sunday at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John Craig.
Mr. and Mrs. James Paterson of
Kitchener, spent the week-end at the
home of his brother, Mr, Albert Pat-
erson.
Mr, and Mrs. Raymond Eggert and
Ellen, Sally-Ray and Virginia, of
Crookston, Minn,, spent a few days
last week at the home of Mr. and
Mrs, Chett, Shiell and will visit with
Lucknow, Ethel and Kincardine rela-
tives.
Mr. Jack Shiell of St. Thomas, and
Jack Shiell of East Wawanosh, and
Mr. Chester Higgins left on Tuesday
to spend. a few weeks in the West and
will motor through to Vancouver.
Mrs. Alex Shiell and Susanne and
Donald, of St. Thomas, spent the
week-end at the home of Mrs. Prank
Thompson and attended the Johns-
ton family picnic on Sunday. Mrs.
Milton McBurney and Miss Gwen Mc-
Burney and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Smith
of London also attended the picnic
and visited with relatives in East
Wawanosh,
Mrs. W. Dow, who spent a few
weeks at the home of her brother,
Mr. Melville Beecroft, returned home
on Wednesday last.
Don Beattie and Bob Greenham, who
spent the past two months at the
home of Elmer Ireland and Harold
Walker in East Wawanosh, returned
home to. Leaside on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston and
family of Cooksville, Mr. and Mrs.

ner and their sisters, Mrs. A. Black-
wood, all of Toronto, spent the week-
end at the home of Mrs. Allan Turn-
er,
Feversham spent the week-end at
the home of her parents, Rev, and
Mrs. W. I, Watt,
Mrs. Fairbrother and children, of
Toronto, spent last week at the home
of her mother, Mrs, James Wilson Sr,
Mr. and Mrs, Will Mennen of Al-
pena, have been visiting at the home
of Mr, and Mrs. Thos. Moore, and
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Henderson of
Lueknow and other MacGregor rela-
tives in this district,
Mrs. Thos, Moore and her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Sperling, Wingham, were in
London on Tuesday where Mrs. Moore
again went to the eye specialist.
Mrs. E. Chapman of Aurora, has
been visiting at the home of her son,
Mr. Russell Chapman.
Mrs. Walter Bell and little Heather
Joy have been visiting at Burford
with her parents during the past
week.
Mr. David Currie and Miss Leah
Currie of Wingham and Mr. and Mrs.
Eric Elliott and family of Ottawa
and Mr. and Mrs, Ken Currie and
children of East Wawanosh, visited
on Sunday at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Russell Gaunt,
Mr. and Mrs. James E. Currie were
in London on Sunday and Mrs. Al-
lan Leader and her little daughter, of
London, returned home with them
to visit here this week,
Mrs. Ezra Welwood has been laid
up this week with a badly infected
middle finger on her right hand, She
had it lanced at the hospital on Sun-
day.
The heavy rains of the week-end
again- put a temporary stop to har-
vesting operations in this district.
About forty of the members of the
W.M.S., Mission Band and Baby
Band of the United Church met at
the home of Mrs. J. D. Beecroft on
Thursday of last week for the summer
picnic meeting. Mrs. J. G. Gillespie
presided for a short worship service
and read from Romans chapter 12,
and Mrs. Albert Coultes led in prayer.
An invitation from the St. Helen's
W.M.S. was extended to all who
could attend a meeting there this
Wednesday afternoon, when Mrs.
Menzies of Ethel and Mrs. Kirkby of
Walton will be the special speakers.
Mrs. Milian Moore, superintendent of
the Mission Band, then took charge
of the .program. Karen Groskorth
and Wayne Farrier sang solos; El-
wyn Moore, Margaret Moore, Ron-
ald Beecroft and Roy James gaiie
recitations and the Mission Band pre-
sented a short play, showing the uses
for the missionary money sent to oth-
er lands. Miss Hazel Bagg, a kinder-
garten teacher from Toronto, gave a
very interesting story about the little
girl who wanted to be made beauti-
ful, Miss Winnifred Farrier, another
kindergarten teacher, had charge of
the recreation period. Lunch was
served and all' enjoyed the social
time together.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Rintoul and
sons and. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pur-
don spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Bott of Belwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Irwin McClenaghan
of St. Thomas spent a few days last
week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Ben McClenaghan.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hall and family
of Bluevale visited on. Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon,
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shiell and son
Bobby, of London, spent Sunday with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Shiell.

and Patsy and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs, Frank Coulter left on Tuesday

gary, where they will visit at the

lage, were in Whiteehurch on Sun-
day renewing acquaintances with Mr,
and Mrs. iiielwood, Mr. and Mrs,
Frank Coulter and Mrs. David Ken-
nedy,
Mr. and Mrs. E. H, Groskorth and
Paul and Karen left on Sunday to
spend their vacation at the home of
his brother, Mr. Otto Groskorth, at
Ottawa, They will tour through Al-
gonquin Park on their return home.

san and Lynn and Mr, Iwamoto and
his daughter, Miss Sumi Iwamoto,
Reg.N., all of Toronto, visited on Sat-
urday at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
George McClenaghan. All are spend-
ing this week at a cottage at Sauble
Beach.
The Women's Institute will hold
the annual picnic this Thursday at
the home of Mrs. Robert Ross, All
are cordially invited to attend,
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Mitchell and
Eleanor and Gordon spent the week-
end with relatives in Toronto.
The McInnis Brothers, from Luck-
now, moved into Mr. F. McK, Pater-
son's house on the river sideroad on
Wednesday last and are busy repair-
ing the house.
Mr. and Mrs. Orton Grain and Gary
of Listowel, Mr. and Mrs. John Bur-
chill, of Turnberry and Mr. and Mrs,
Lance Gresain visited on Sunday at the
home of Mrs. J. A. Kennedy at Sar-
nia.
The North Huron Junior Farmers
held their Sunday evening service on
Sunday at the Anglican Church in
Belgrave, when Rev. Bromwell, rec-
tor of the church, conducted the ser-
vice, with Rev. Mr. Scott, of the Un-
ited Church, Blyth, delivering the ser-
mon. The ushers were Angus Fal-
coner, Jack Currie, Jim Johnston and
Murray Bradburn, Mrs. Angus Fal-
coner, Isabel Elliott, Betty Newman,
Kathleen Forester, and Walter El-
liott helped in the choir.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart, of
Langside, spent Sunday at the home
of her brother, Mr. Donald Martin.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wightman and
daughters spent Sunday at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emer-
son. Vipond of Atwood, and attended
church there, where Rev. Vipond, a
son of Mr. and Mrs, Vipond, who is
home from Winnipeg, had charge of
the service. Miss Eleanore Wight-
man also assisted in the choir.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Nethery and
Valerie, of Hamilton, Mr, and Mrs.
Gibson Armstrong and Gail of
London, and Miss Barbara Irwin
spent last week at a cottage at In-
verhuron, Mrs. Herson Irwin also
spent a few days there. On Sunday
Dr. and Mrs. Richard Irwin and
daughters of Flesherton, Mr. and Mrs,
Nethery and daughter and Mr. and
Mrs. Armstrong, of Inverhuron spent
the day with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Herson Irwin, Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon Cane and Dianne and Donald,
of Toronto, also visited there over the
week-end.
Mr. Walter Elliott had the misfor-
tune to have his car badly smashed
up on Sunday evening when driving
past Mr. James Laidlaw's farm on
the 12th of West Wawanosh. A calf
belonging to Mr. Laidlaw, which had
broken out of the field, became con-
fused with the lights, and jumped
from the side of the road in front of
the car. The calf had to be killed as
it was badly hurt.
Messrs. Fred and Harry Deacon
spent Sunday at Port Elgin.
Jim and Kenneth Coultes, sons of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Coultes, and
Reavie, all of East Wawanosh,
are spending this week at the United
Church Summer Camp north of God-
erich.
Miss Mildred McClenaghan and
Miss Shirley Chapman left on Sunday
from London by plane to spend a
week at the home of the former's
uncle, Mr. Will McClenaghan of Cleve-
land, Ohio,
Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Gillespie vis-
ited on Sunday With Mrs. Kate Mur-
ray, of Walton, who has been ill
during the past few Weeks,
Mr, Thos. Hill, a former resident of
Kinless, now residing at the home of
his daughter, Mrs, Gordon Scott, of
Ripley, Celebrated his 84th birthday
on Monday. Many old friends will
extend best wishes for many more
such happy occasions,
Mr. and Mrs, Gordon Montgomery
and family, of Kapuskasing who have
been visiting with her grandmother,
Mrs. Win. Taylor, are spending this
week at a cottage at Point Clark.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Scott and
1-lelen and Craig of Kiriloss Visited on
Sunday with her sister, Mrs, Harold
Johnston, d Parkhill, Mrs. Scott and
Helen Stayed to visit there this week.
Miss Plgrence Beecroft left on Sun-
day for Toronto after spending her
two weeks' vacation With her parents,
Mr, and Mrs. J. D, Beecroft,
Mrs, Jack Siebert, of Toronto, spent
the week-end with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs, Frank Thompson, of East
