Presbyterian The service in Knox Presbyterian church on Sunday morning was con- ducted by Rev. R. A. Brook of the 'Gaited Church. He spoke from John 4:6; the story of Jesus resting at Jacob's well, where the woman of Samaria came and gave him a re- freshing drink, and she in turn ac- cepted Christ and became a Christian.' This showed how blessings can come from periods of rest. A ladies' choir sang an anthem. Mrs. W. J. Johnston has returned home from a five-week visit with her sisters and other relatives at Glad- stone, Manitoba, and at Woodrow, Sask, Miss Jean Hall has accepted a posi- tion on the staff of the Dominion store at Wingham. Two ball games were played on the local park here this week, the first game, Ethel came off victorious and in the second Bluevale won a smash- ing victory over Belmore, Mrs. Elsie Lamont is visiting her sister, Mrs. Nelson Cardiff, at Brus- sels, Mr. Bert Davidson, Cartwright, Manitoba, and Mrs. William Reid and daughter, Mrs. Elgin Porter, of Bay- field, were recent visitors with Mrs. Arthur Shaw. Mr. and Mrs. Beecroft and Mr. and Mrs. MacLean, Edmonton, Alberta, visited this week with their cousin, George and Mrs. Thornton, The ladies are sisters, daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs .Chris Thornton, of Blue- vale.
