side from John Street to Patrick Street,

of the High School, from 8.30 a.m. till
4.30 p.m.

Council to the University of Western
Ontario and the Fanshawe dam,
Mrs. Alberta Smith and Mrs. T.
Montgomery of London, visited with
friends here for several days last
week, and were guests on Saturday at
the Marks-Strong wedding, also at
the trousseau tea on Wednesday, Mr.
T. Montgomery, Ivan and Grant, Lon-
don, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Thomp-
son, Kitchener, were also guests at
the wedding on Saturday-and remain-
ed here until Sunday.
Congratulations to George Gregg,
who has received word that he has
passed his second year exams., at
Toronto University with 2nd. class
honour- standing.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest King, Mr, and
Mrs. Harry King, Wayne and Judy,
spent the week-end in Toronto,
Guests with relatives here after
attending the Dane reunion in Lis-
towel on Saturday, were; Mr. and

Mr. Norman Wade, was in Lon
don on Friday and Saturday attending
the annual convention of the Ontario
Historical Society held at Huron

Dane Reunion
The Dane family held their annual
reunion in the park at Listowel, on
Saturday afternoon, when an enjoy-
able time was spent.

Bride-to-Be Honoured
At the regular meeting of the L.O.
B.A., on Tuesday evening, Miss Mil-
dred Jacklin, a member of the L.O.
B.A., and a bride-elect of this month,
was honored with a gift of a pair of
silver candle holders. Mrs. Alex Tay-
lor read an address, extending best
wishes. Mrs, T. L, McInnes made the
presentation, Miss Jacklin made a
suitable reply, Refreshments were
served and a soial hour enjoyed,

On Friday, June 27th. ,the W. A. of
St. Stephen's will pack the annual
bales for the Indian residential School,
at Cardston, Alberta, and for the Mo-
hawk Institute at Brantford, at the
home of Mrs. Mel Gilkinson, at 2.30
p,m, Theme for roll call "Missions,"
Ladies' Auxiliary
The ladies' auxiliary to the Howick
Legion held the June meeting in
Gorrie, with Comrade D. Ridley in
the chair. The mystery box was won
by Comrade Ridley, donated by
Comrade Doig. The ladies are selling
tickets on a cup and saucer, donated
by Comrade J. Wilson. After the
business, the Legion members, with
visitors from Wingharn joined the
ladies and a social half-hour was en-
joyed.

B.A„ annual Church service will be
held on Sunday, July 6th, at 2,30 p,
in. In the Presbyterian Church, Gor-
rie, when Rev, J, R. BOgga will be the
preacher,
Trousseau Tea
Mrs. W. W, Strong entertained on
Wednesday afternoon and evening at
a trousseau tea, honoring her daugh-
ter, Miss Janice Strong, Reg, N.,
whose marriage took place Saturday.
Assisting Mrs. Strong were her four
sisters; Mrs. Nettie Hutchison, Mrs.
Watson Brown, Mrs. Oscar Nickel and
Mrs, John Strong; Mrs. Murray Ed-
gar, Mrs. Jennie Edgar, Mrs, Tom
Edgar and Mrs. Telford Montgomery,
London. Pouring tea in the afternoon
were: Mrs. Janet Stewart, Listowel,
great-aunt of the bride-elect, and Mrs.
John Montgomery. Showing the trous-
seau and gifts were Misses Grace Ed-
gar, Gwen Ruttan and Helen Strong.
During the evening, Mrs. Robert
Woods and Mrs. Marks, Listowel,
poured tea, while °Misses Marie
O'Krafka, Audrey Hastie and Edith
Edgar, Wroxeter, showed the trous-
seau and gifts, The tea table was love-
ly With a lace cloth centred with
pansies in novelty containers, while
pink and white peonies were in the
reception room.
A misprint in last week's issue read
300 guests at a shower for Miss
Margaret Wearring, given by Mrs.
sister, Mrs. Fleming Grainger, in
Clinton Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Grainger underwent on opera-
tion on Friday and was getting along
as well as could be expected.
Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Earle King on Sunday afternoon were
Mrs, Elizabeth Parrott and son, Mr,
George Parrott, also Mrs. Frances
Gray of Hamilton; Mr, and Mrs, Ed,
Stewart of Stoney Creek; Mr. Prank

Mrs. Anson Thornton was in Lon-
don over the week-end with her
father, Mr. Robert Cathers, who is in
the hospital there and whose condi-
tion is quite favorable.
Rev. J. R. Watt was in Alliston on
Sunday and occupied the pulpit in the
United Church there.
