Mr. and Mrs. Will Redmond and family of St. Augustine, visited on Sunday at the home of her grand- mother, Mrs. Jas. Cornelius. Mr. Kenneth Purdon, who has been working at Barrie during the past few weeks, spent the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr, and Mrs. John Purdon. Miss Beatrice MeQuIllin, the teach- er, Mr, Sheldon Baxter, music super- visor, and the pupils of the St, Helens school entertained the ladies of the section recently. Aherne' Webb, the President of the Junior Red Cross, presided for the delightful program which included the reading of the minutes by- the secretary, Archie Me- Quillin; songs by the pupils; instru- mentals by Eddie Gaunt, Donna Woods, Doris Miller, Alison Webb, and Norma Forster; a solo by Gladys McDonald and bagpipe selection by Archie McQuillin. Miss W, D. Ruther- ford was called upon for a few words, in which she expressed the thanks of the ladies for the pleasant afternoon. Lunch was served and the ladies took advantage of the opportunity to view the fine work of the pupils, Mrs. Elwood presided for the moot- ing of the Women's Institute held in the church on Thursday evening. A donation of $5 was made to the Sal- vation Army, Mr. Cecil Merkley of Wingham was present and delighted the ladies and gentlemen with his views of trips to Fiot'ida and Mexico. He concluded his lecture with some pictures of local scenes around Wing- ham including those of Nancy Fowler C.
