Call to Mitchell Church
The Rev. J. R. Watt, pastor of the
Gorrie United Church for the past
three years, has accepted a call to
Main St. United Church, Mitchell, to
'become effective July 1st.
Empire Day Musicale
A number from here attended the
Howick township school area Empire
Day musicale, held in the Belrnore
Arena on Friday night, when a fine
'musical programme was presented.
Some numbers particularly enjoyed
were: May Queen (S.S, No, 5) and
May Pole Dance (No. 17); Flag Drill
(No, 7 Srs.) and "Life of Stephen
Foster", Mrs. Carl Douglas is Di-
rector of Music in the Howick
schools.
L.0,B.A. Marks Anniversary
On Monday evening, May 19th, the
members of the Ladies' Orange Ben-
evolent Assoc., celebrated the 24th
anniversary of their organization, by
entertaining members of the Palmer-
ston L.O.B.A. and the Morning Star
Lodge, at Fordwich, Progressive
Euchre was enjoyed, Mrs. D'Arcy of

Executive Meeting
The executive of the North Huron
Junior Farmers and Junior Institute
met at the home of Murray Bradburo/
on Monday, May 19th, The two groups
met separately to make plans for
their respective Stptember meetings.
Later they convened for a joint meet-
ing to discuss many unsettled points
of business, It was decided to change
the time of meeting from 8.30 to 9.00
p.m. while daylight saying remains in
effect, The painting of mail boxes was
discussed as a possible club project
for the summer months. The entering
of wa sqaure dance set in the Perth-
Huron Field Day competition aroused
considerable interest.
June Meeting
The program committee has prom-
ised to have something special in the
way of a program ready for the June
meeting. The boys' session of the
June meeting will feature Hamish
MacLeod, head of Distribution of
Farm Supplies for the United Co-
operative of Ontario, who will speak
on ,the growth of Coops in Ontario
and the advantages of buying and
selling co-operatively. Rod Macintosh
of Wingham, will be on hand to in-
troduce the speaker.
The United Co-operative field man
will also be present to answer any
questions regarding co-ops. All and
all the June meeting should be out-
standing to say the least.
Calf. Club Meets
The Blyth-Belgrave 4H Baby Beef
Calf Club met at the home of Bill

Appointed Archdeacon
Rev. J. C. Caley, formerly rector of
the parish of Gorrle, Fordwich and
Wroxeter, now rector of St. Michael's
Church at Waynesboro, Georgia, has
been appointed Archdeacon of the
Augusta district by the Bishop of
Georgia, at the annual convention of
the clergy and lay delegates of the
Diocese of Georgia.

The Young People's Union met at
the home of Miss Phyllis Ford on
Sunday evening with twenty-two
present. The theme was on, "Mis-
sions" and "Home Outreach", with
Marion Toner taking the topic. The
hymn, "Fairest Lord Jesus", was
sung, Scripture was read by Ray
