bowling play-off at the Bowling
Academy in Goderich. The high team
from the north, with Ross McGregor
as eaptain; Bill Purdon, Betty New-
man arid Mr. and Mrs. Angus Fal-
coner as Members, bowled against the
high team from the south; composed
of Captain Harry Lear, June Lear,
Edith Beacom, Bert Lyon and Law-
rence Plaetzer. The team from the
south won two games out of three,
and was warded the shield. On Fri-
,day evening, a bowlers' banquet is
being held in Whitechurch, and the
Shield and trophies will be presented
to the winners.
On Wednesday evening of this week,
the Blyth-Belgrave Calf Club and the
North Huron Swine Club are meeting
at the home of the club leader, Bill
Taylor. Classes of livestock will be
judged, and a discussion will be held
on how and why judging is important
in the Junior Club programme. The
members will also learn how to make
a rope halter.
Blyth Tractor Maintenance 411 Club
by Sidney Thompson
The monthly meeting of the Blyth
Tractor Maintenance 4H Club was
held last Wednesday evening at Stew-
art Johnston's Massey-Harris shop at
Blyth. Eiden Cook, the preident, ask-
ed for the minutes and the roll call.
He then turned the meeting over to
Jack Turnbull who took charge of
the discussions on fuels and earburet-
ion, He explained the difference in
the grades of gas, and how it was re-
fined, He also explained the different
parts of the carburetor and how they
worked. He passed around a Marvel
carburetor which had part of it cut
away. He also conducted a, quiz on
the information learned at the meet-
ing, Murray Bradburn expressed the
club's thanks to Mr. Johnston for the
use of his shop and tractor. The meet-
ing then adjourned
Farmers who raise poultry should
make every effort to protect their
flocks from the red fox during the
next two months. The young fox pups
can now be seen around their .dens,
and the mother, with so many mouths
to feed naturally finds it much easier
to take her young a nice plump chick-
en or duck, etc., rather than to go
out and catch dozens of mice,

Southampton Discusses
New School
Southampton ratepayers, those who
were interested enough to attend the
public meeting in the town hall on
Monday night of last week, were given
a first hand account of the action of
the School Board to date on the pro-
ject of building a new public school
here, Cost figures and the effect
these would have on the tax rate were
presented and plans of. the proposed
building were on display.
Mayor Smith, chairman, expressed
his disappointment that more of the
ratepayers were not present and ask-
ed that opinions on the question be
voiced so that the Council and the
Board might evaluate public feeling
on that matter.
Board chtikirman D. Hostetler, re-
viewed the action of the board in
bringing the question to the present
