Four Children Baptized in
New Font at United Church
Donald MacLean; `in charge of 'the
program, A parents' choir led the
singing and rendered an anthem, "The
Happy Home." The following children
were baptized, using the baptismal
font for the first time, a gift from
Mrs, Mary Robertson., Robert Murray,
son of Mr, and Mrs. Alex Corrigan;
Ruth Ann, daughter of Mr, and Mrs,
Charles Cam'pbell; Betty Lou, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs, Alan Barnard;
Jeffrey Golley, 'son of Mr. and Mrs,
Wilson Thornton. Rev. R. A. Brook
preached a sermon to parents, based
on the text from Joshua "As for me
and my house, we will serve the
Lord." •
Next Sunday evening at '7.30 Rev, R.
A, Brook will address the Oddfellows
and Rebekahs in the United Church,
Institute Meeting
Mrs. Alex Corrigan was the hostess
on Thursday afternoon for the regu-
lar meetingoof the Women' Institute,
The secretary-treasurers' report was
presented 41by Miss Margaret Curtis.
The newly-elected president, Mrs.
Carl Johnston, presided, The roll call
"Sing, Say or Pay," brought money
from some. One lady sang and others
read selected verse or told a; story.
Mrs. Aitken reported for the commit-
tee which recently waited on the
Turnberry Council regarding some as-
sistance for the upkeep of the street
lights in the village.
The canvass Rr funds for the Red
Shield is well organized with Mrs.
Aitken as captain. Co-operation for
the Children's Aid Society was asked
for and will receive consideration at
a later date.
Reports of thp 4th annual officers'
conference for Presidents and secre-
taries, held recently at the 0. A. C.
Guelph, were given by Mrs. Carl John-
sten and Mrs, Stanley Darling, They
outlined the Main points in the ad-
dresses given by the special speakers
and the findings of the . discussion
groups.
Extension services for the Home,
maker were dimmed and prepared
for presentation at the District An-
nual meeting, Mrs. M. Bailie g ave
an Irish reading "The Mountain of
Marne" and an encore, Lunch was
served with Mrs. K, 1VlacNaughton•
Mrs, W, Smillie and Mrs. Gordon
Mundell assisting the hostess.
Special Service At Knox
Mother's Day service was observed
at Knox Presbyterian Church with the
-S. S. Superintendent, R. J ,MelVfurray,
in charge of the program, A Scripture
reading "The Home of Jesus" from
St. Luke's Gospel was read by Arlene
Campbell aid Ian Mundell read the
story of Mary and Martha, Phyllis
Elliott and John Mundell won the
award of a Bible each for regular at.
tendance. Rev. Matthew Bailie gave
the address on the theme "In the
church and in every home, they ceased
not to teach," stressing the importance
of Bible study in the home, He told
an impressive story for the children
based on the word HOME. Hymns and
music were in keeping with Mother's
Day, The service was held in the
Sunday School room as the auditor-
lum is being re-decorated.
Euchre and Dance
Mr. Brown teacher, and hirruralis
sponsored a, euchre and dance in the
Community Hall on Friday night.
Owing to counter attractions the at-
tendance was not as large as expected.
Eight tables played and Mrs, Don
Robertdon and Eddie Waddel supplied
music for dancing. The proceeds will
be used to assist in financing a motor
trip to Niagara Falls for the senior
grades of Bluevale, Kirtons and the
Stone schools in connection with edu-
cational nature study. The exact date
is not set but will be during the month
of June.

Mrs. Richard Jeffrey was entertain-
ed to dinner at Listowel, by her son,
Stewart of Stratford in honour of
Mother's Day.
Mr, and Mrs. Wm, Myers and baby
of Toronto, were Sunday visitors with
her parents, Mr, and Mrs. J. II. Smith.
Mrs. Nellie Lillow was a week-end
visitor with her son, Jack and Mrs.

Duff attended church service at Lis-
towel United Church on Sunday when
Mrs. Aitken's granddaughter, Linda
Street, was baptised. Mr, and Mrs,
Donald Street and Linda; of Listowel,
Mr, and Mrs. Harry street of Moore-field spent Sunday afternoon at the
home of Miss Mary Duff.

Miss Olive Scott was presented with
an honorary Life Membership certi-
ficate from the Maitland. W.g.$, Pres-
byterial Society of the Presbyterian
Church in Canada in recognition of
several years of service on the exectl-
tive-comrnittee, The address was read
by Mrs. R. McWhinney of Dungannon
at•the annual meeting of the Presby-
terial held at Wirigham on May 8th.
