Thursday last ,attending a directors'
meeting of the Women's Institute,
held at the home of Mrs. R. J. McKel-
lar. The committee made arrange-
ments for the annual meeting at Kin-
cardine on June 10th, to be held in the
United Church.

Mrs, Fred Dustow, Oliver and Irene
motored to London on Sunday to see
the former's grandson, little Robert
Grant, who is in hospital there. His
condition remains much the same.

were in Kitchener on Sunday. Mrs.,
Scott Inglis who has been visiting
with her daughter, Mrs. Earl Halli-
day there and Miss Jean Inglis at
Freeport, returned home with them.
Miss Margaret Grant of Brussels
is staying with her niece, Mrs. Thos.

The Easter Thankoffering meetin
of the W.M.S. of Brick United Chure
was held on Wednesday last at the
home of Mrs. Edward McBurney with
11 members present, Mrs. Chas. Shiell
presided far the meeting. The Scrip-
ture passages were read by Mrs. Les-
lie Wightman, Mrs. Frank Thompson
and Mrs. R. M. Shiell, Mrs. W. J,
Moores gave an Easter reading and
Mrs Shiell led in prayer. Mrs.. Frank
Thompson and Mrs. Shiell were ap-
pointed as delegates to the Presbyter-
ial at Clinton on Thursday. The Eas-
ter program In the Missionary Month
• ly proved very interesting.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Snell an.
Shirley, visited on Sunday at the home
of their daughter, Mrs. Lorne Bee-
croft, and Miss Myrtle returned home
with them.
The warm sunny days over the
week-end made long, busy days for
the farmers in this community. It
needed no turning on of clocks to in-
duce farmers to be up and off to their
Work in the drying fields.
Communion service was held in the
Presbyterian Church here on Sunday,
with the members from Calvin church
. also attending.
The demonstration on "Oven Meals"
from the Home Economics Depart-
ment will be held on May 8th and 9th,
in the Memorial Hall here, from 1.50
in this district are cordially invited
to attend.

Mr. Clayton Scholtz of London,
spent the week-end at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Scholtz.
Young Adult Group
The Young Adult Group of the
United Church met on Tuesday last
in the S. S. room of the church with
Mr. Ivan Laidlaw presiding. Mr. Clar-
ence McClenaghan read the Scripture
lesson and Marjorie Coultes led in
prayer. Shirley Chapman gave a read-
ing and Mrs. Jas. Falconer gave a
very interesting talk on Marine Mis-
sions in B. C. She gave the story of
Peter Kelley, a missionary worker on
the Thos. Crosby Mission boat. The
meeting was closed by the Mizpah
benediction,
Mrs. Herson Irwin has been a pat-
ent in Wingham Hospital this week, '
°flowing an operation on Monday.
Irs. Gibson Armstrong and daughter,
Gail of London, spent last week with
Mr, and Mrs, Irwin. Mrs. Alex Neth-
ery and daughter, Valerie of Hamil-
ton, is visiting there this week.

delegate to attend the Presbyterial on
Thursday in the United Church at

Rev. Mary Dougherty of Under-
wood was the -guest speaker at the
United Church on Sunday. She spoke
in the interests of a campaign , for

Rat, Ferguson passed away in the
Wingharn General Hospital at the age
of 81. Born at Brussels, she had resid-
ed in HoWick Township since her
marriage 52 years ago. She was a
member of the Lakelet United Church,
Surviving besideS her husband, are
a son, John, and a daughter, Marion,
at home and a daughter, Mrs. Ross
McGregor, Seaforth; two brothers,
John and Thomas Bradwell, Clifford,
and a sister, Miss Annie Bradwell,
Howiek.
Service was conducted at the fam-
ily residence on Thursday by the Rev.
Ross Muir and interment was in Clif-
ford cemetery.
Twenty-one members were received
into church membership at the United
Church on Sunday morning, April
20th., by Rev. W. R. Tristram.
