Miss Marjorie Allen, daughter of
Mrs, J. J. Allen of Toronto, and
grandaughter of Mr, and Mrs. 3. N,
Allen, has been a hospital patient in
Toronto but is now recuperating at
her home, Marjorie's many friends
in this place wish her a speedy re-
turn to good health.
Mr. Harry Adams of Wroxeter
South has purchased the farm of
John Young on the edge of the vil-
lage.
Miss Beatrice Wade of Fordwich
visited Miss Rona Vanelsor on
Sunday and togethdr they visited
friends at Wingham and Belgrave.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence White, To-
ronto, spent the week-end at their
summer home in the village. Once
again they are able to make use of
their outboard motor boat. Wilford
Brown and sons are enjoying the use
of their boat also the Gibson brothers.
A new wharf has been built for the
convenience of the boat owners,
Elston Cardiff 1VaL.A. and Mrs.
Cardiff of Brussels were Sunday
guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Leckie.

three act comedy, Pat on by a Farm
Forum Group from Grey township
and sponsored by the St. James'
Anglican. Guild, was much ap-
preciated by t he large audience who
came out to hear it. The play showed
careful preparation and was well pre-
sented, Rev. Douglas Vogan, Rector
of St, James' was chairman. Between
acts Darleen Brothers sang and
Brenda Cathers danced accompanied
at the piano by Mrs. Lyle Brothers,
who also favoured with piano solos,

United Church Training school. There
will be morning and afternoon ses-
sions,
W. L Quilt Making Contest
Several Women's Institute Branches
in this district are competing in a
Quilt Competition sponsored by a well
known Tea Co. Three prizes are of-
fered, The quilts are to be judged at
the district annual meetings. Fifteen
dollars will be given for first place,
second, $10.00, and third, $5.00. The
three winning quilts will be displayed
at the fall convention and then sent
on to compete in the provincial con-
test where the prizes area 1st, $100;
2nd,, $50.00 and 3rd„ $25.00. The idea
of the competition is to develop Can-
adian handicrafts, This is especially
necessary in view of the visit of the
Country Women's Association of the
World which will come to Canada in
1953.
Mission Band
The Buds of Promise Mission Band,
United Church, whose motto is "Let
us be World Friends" will hold their
May meeting on Monday, May 5th, in
the church schoolroom. Mrs. H.
Knight will be the guest speaker.
Larry Snell, Bonny Edgar and Bonnie
Hoffman will be in charge of the
meeting. Leaders will be Mrs. George
Gibson and Mrs. William Wright.
Roll call, "Name a Spring Flower."
Meeting is called for 4.10 o'clock.
Adults Club Will Debate
On Thursday evening, May 1st., the
Adults Club of the United Church
will hold their monthly meeting. The
special feature this month will be a
debate:. Resolved "Should' back seat
drivers have a license?" -Marilyn Mac-
Lean and Gilberta Howes will take
the affirmative side, Ronald McMich-
ael and Billy Hart will take the
negative. Everyone enjoys a debate.
Adults w ill be welcome. The club
is especially anxious to gain new
members for , the newly organized
group. Mrs. Merwyn Grainger, presi-
dent will preside and Mrs. D. Statia
will present the minutes.
Women's Institute
The May meeting of the Women's
Institute will be held in the Masonic
Club rooms on Wednesday, May 7th.,
at 2.30 o'clock. Mrs. Jean MacDonald
will, tell of her recent holiday in
Florida while Mrs. Crawford Gibson
map give her impressions of Californ-
ia, where, with her husband, she
visited friends this winter. The roll
call "How I would like to spend a
holiday." The motto "Life without
friendship is like the sky without the
sun," by Mrs. F. Sanderson. Members
are asked to bring suggestions for
entertaining the delegates who are
expected to visit Canada in 1953.
Four years ago this group met in Am-
sterdam and last year at Copenhagen.
Delegates are especially anxious to
visit Canadians in their homes. Host-
esses for the May meeting are Mrs.
Victoria Brothers, Mrs. Allen Munro
and Mrs. Frank Sanderson. Delegates
to the conference will give the high-
lights.
Tyro Meets Friday
The boys Tyro Club will hold the
semi-monthly meeting in the church
schoolroom on Friday at 7.30 p.m.
Rev. E. W. Todd is the leader of this
group.

Thelma Denny, who is on the staff of
the Bank of Commerce, will also be
transferred to the Galt office. The

the Wroxeter Branch Women's In-
stitute.
Mr.and Mrs. Townsend were called
to London on Friday owing to the
serious illness of their son, Donald.
