VOICE OF TEMPERANCE
Which is the better temperance
measure-the Canada Temperance
Act or the Liquor Control Act? Un-
der which act is drunkenness more in
evidence? .We have the answer to
the first question in the second ques-
tion's answer. One of our ministers
lived for some years in a busy town
in South Western Ontario. For the-
past three years he has lived in Hur-
on County. He asserts unhesitatingly
that he saw evidences of drunkenness
every day in the town that was under
the Liquor Control Act and that he
hardly ever sees anyone drunken in
the Huron County town, Another
newcomer to Huron had lived in sub-
urban Toronto. There it was a com-
mon sight on the streets near the
beer parlors, men staggering with
strong drink, Here in a quiet Huron
County town he testifies that it is a
rare sighs. Ask any person who has
lived under the two acts. He knows
the answer to the question-which is
the better temperance measure? Is
there anyone anywhere who will as-
sert that there is less evidence of
drunkenness,. under the Liquor Con-
trol Act wiNe its liquor stores and
beer parlors and cocktail lounges?
