News Blyth euchre Alberta Stevens and Warren Whitmore had the high scores at the weekly euchre party held at Blyth Memorial Hall Dec. 10. There were 10 tables of players taking part. Isabelle Craig and Alden Crich had the low scores. Delores Howatt and Marg Ander­ son had the most lone hands. Mel Jacklin won the special prize. Dec. 17 was the last euchre party before the holidays. The parties will resume Jan. 7. Students paint windows for Christmas season POST OFFICE PAINTING On Friday, Nov. 30 six students from grade 7/8 went to the Brussels Post Office td do some painting on the windows. The students’ names are Sherry Tyer- man, Lorie Ann Black, Stacy Hahn, Jennifer Machan, Heather Somers and Victoria Richards. The pictures they painted on the windows were to do with Christmas. The grade 7/8 class would like to thank Mrs. Martin for doing such a great job supervising the grade six students. PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES On Nov. 27, 28 our school had Parent/Teacher Conferences. That is when parents come in and talk about how their child is doing in school. They also talk about their reports cards and how their child is progressing. QUEST/HEALTH CLASSES by Bill Van Beek and Brad Mulvey Every Tuesday the grade eight class has S.F.A. (Skills For Adoles­ cents), which is taught by Mrs. Raymond. Every couple of weeks the Health Nurse Mrs. Roberton comes to the school and teaches the grade eight class about Health. Mrs. Roberton teaches the grade eight class about adolescent changes. Mrs. Raymond teaches students about respect for others and how to be responsible. On November 29, Mr. Wanless invited Mr. Wayne Stewart, Science Co-ordinator for Huron County, to Brussels Public Schoo! to teach the grade 7/8 class about living creatures. Mr. Stewart brought in some earth worms, isopods, mealworms, snails and slugs. The grade 7/8 students found out how the creatures sur­ vive in nature. THE SANTA CLAUS PARADE On Saturday, December 1, Brus­ sels had its annual Santa Claus parade. In the parade there were many floats. One of the floats was the Brussels Public School band. They played one song, “Jolly Old St. Nicholas’’. The float was pulled by Mr. Wanless’ truck with Mr. Wanless at the wheel. After the parade Santa Claus was at the Legion Hall. Santa Claus gave bags of candy to children and after they got candy there were activities for kids nine years old and younger. The activities were: throwing bean bags in a bucket and throwing bean bags at pop cans.
