Jay■L 1L Brussels Novices beat Milverton team 11-3 Sprouts challenge Bulls Sunday was a very busy day for the Brussels Bulls. At 11:00 Sunday morning, the Brussels Sprouts challenged the Brussels Bulls to a mini game. After the introductions took place the Bulls were paired off with the Sprouts. The boys and Brittany did a skating and shooting drill. Then it was game time. The Sprouts lined up 19 strong so the Bulls knew they were in tough from the opening face off. End-to-end action made for scoring chances as the Sprouts kept the pressure on the Bulls. However, as the dust cleared the Sprouts had beaten the Bulls 8-3. to take a well-deserved win. Following the game the Bulls presented every Sprout with a souvenir puck. Everyone went up­ stairs for a lunch of scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages and toast. All players sat together and talked about the game. The Bulls said thanks to everyone who helped in the lunch, it was great, and a special thank you to Wayne Todd for his engineering and help in this function. Following the breakfast the Bulls players signed autographs for the young Sprouts. BULLS TIE GRAND VALLEY But it was back to work at 2 p.m. for the Bulls as they had to play the Grand Valley Harvesters. Grand Valley opened the scoring Novices play at home, Thurs. the hometown team score 13 goals. In the second period they played well and managed to only let Milverton score one goal. The team’s next game will be, Thurs­ day, Dec. 13 at 6:45 in Blyth and on Fri., Dec. 14 they go to Brussels for a 6:30 start. Continued from page 12 a 2-2 tie. Brussels got their first goal of the game at 15:36 as Jeff McKee scored from Ron Strome. Marty Rutledge gave the Bulls the lead at 19:41 of the second with assist going to Jeff McKee. Darryl Rooney scored to tie the score at 14:07. However Steve Fritz scored a power play goal at 10:33 from Marty Rutledge and Jeff McKee. Grand Valley tied the score at 15:55 and Chad Campbell scbred from Scott White and Murray Schmidt. Steve Fritz scored his second goal of the game on a pass from Bevin Flett and Marty Rut­ ledge at 13:35. But Grand Valley didn’t lay down as Darryl Rooney completed the hat-trick from Glenn Watt and Chris Willemse. The final score was Bulls 4, Grand Valley 4. The Brussels Bulls had four players nominated to play in the Western Jr. C. All-Star game Saturday, January 5 at Goderich. They are second year Bulls Steve Fritz, Jeff Roy and Corey McKee. The Brussels Bulls have one rookie selected to go: left winger Jeff McKee. Jeff has a good shot at being the Rookie of the Year in the Western Jr. C. League. This week the Bulls have only one game as they face the third place Goderich Sailors Sunday at 2 p.m. Goderich has been playing very well of late. If last year’s playoffs are any indication it should be one of the best games of the year to date. Sunday, the Bulls expect the return of goaltender Jeff Roy from his ankle injury. Scott Thede has been carrying the load for the last three weeks. Murray Chapman won the Bulls’ $50 weekly draw. With 9:13 left in the first period Wilson struck for his first goal, an unassisted marker. Less than a minute later Milverton scored the first of its goals to tie the game. Four minutes later Wilson scored again, assisted by Ryan Smith. Milverton took the lead with two goals in less than a minute but, with just over one minute left in ' the period Wilson scored his third goal, unassisted, to tie the game at the end of the first period. At 12:15 of the second Jay Siebert set up Wilson for his fourth goal as Brussels took the lead for good. Seventeen seconds later it was Wilson again unassisted. Another 17 seconds later Carla Hunt scored for Brussels. Just over a minute later Wilson made it 7-3 as he scored an unassisted goal. In the third Wilson started his team off fast again with two goals just over a minute apart. Kevin Mutter was set up by Mike Cooper to increase the Brussels lead then Wilson capped off his scoring for the night with an unassisted goal with 3:51 left in the game. BRUSSELS DEFEATS ELMA-LOGAN Saturday Brussels travelled to Monkton to take on Elma-Logan and came home with a 6-4 win. Elma-Logan took an early lead with a goal 8:20 into the game. Trevor Wilson tied the game 40 seconds later, then was set up by JOIN US FOR CHRISTMAS CHEER Ryan Smith 51 seconds later to give Brussels the lead. Elma-Logan got a quick jump early in the second to tie the score just 1:02 into the period. Wilson replied for Brussels twice more before the period ended to give Brussels a 4-2 lead. Again in the third Elma-Logan started fast, scoring just 19 seconds into the period. Elma-Logan tied the score at 8:28 but it took just seven seconds for Wilson to re­ establish the Brussels lead. Sixteen seconds later he rounded out the scoring with his sixth goal of the game to give Brussels a 6-4 win. Overloads upset Goderich 7-4 The Blyth Radfords Overloads Oldtimers came up with their strongest effort of the season to upset the Goderich Deckhands by the score of 7 to 4. Barney Stewart scored three times with Gary Courtney and Wayne McDougall adding two each. Ron Ritchie and Harry Wil­ son shared the goaltending duties and both turned in a strong performance.
