the first period when Rick Schiestel
and Kevin Johnston combined to
set up Joe Zettler for the goal. The
first period ended 1-0 for the
Falcons.
They made it a 2-0 lead just ten
seconds into the second period
when Tracey Kennedy scored on a
play from Mike Lang and Paul
Cronin. Brussels came back and cut
the lead in half when Kevin Deitner
set up Ken Cousins for the goal.
The second period ended 2-1 in
Teeswater’s favour.
The Crusaders came back to tie
the game up at two just two
minutes into the third when Ken
Cousins scored once again with
Mark Harding drawing the assist
on the goal. That was all the
scoring in the third as the score was
2-2 after three periods of play.
Th teams then had to play a
five-minute, sudden-death period
and there was just 51 seconds left
to play when Mike Lang and Tracey
Kennedy set up Brian Weber for
the winning goal to give Teeswater
a 3-2 victory.
Brussels played the second game
of the tournament on Sunday when
they faced Grand Valley.
The Crusaders opened the scor

when Troy Pocaluyko drew an
assist on a goal by Brian Ten Pas.
Just over two minutes later

he scored on a wrist shot with
Cardiff and Kevin Deitner drawing
the assists on the goal. The period
ended 3-0 in the Crusaders favour.
There was only one goal scored
in the second and it was scored by
Grand Valley to make the score 3-1
after two periods of play.
Brussels regained their three-
goal lead four minutes into the
third when Ken Higgins scored on
a slap shot from the blue line, the
goal was unassisted.
Grand Valley came back strong
scoring the next two goals of the
game to make it a one-goal
difference. The Crusaders then
increased it to a two-goal lead when
Paul Robinson and Troy Pocaluyko
combined to set up Dave Mont

cut the lead to one once again with
two minutes left in the game but
that was as close as they got as
Brussels held on for a 5-4 victory to
put them in the B Championship
game.
The B Championship game saw
the Crusaders take the ice against
the Palmerston 81’s.
Palmerston took the early lead as
they scored just 40 seconds into the
first period when Kyle Reading set
up Dan Hill for the goal. The rest of
the period as well as the second
period were scoreless with both
teams having good chances to
score.
Palmerston took a 2-0 lead seven
minutes into the third period when

with 15 seconds left in the game
with goalie Ron Smith on the bench
for an extra forward. Rob Cardiff
