Reports were received from the Beaver and Venturer sections. Beavers have almost completed the investiture of new members. They have been doing activities and studies on space programs, and have covered Chapter 2 of Friends of the Forest. Venturers are mak ing plans for their own investiture and a winter camp Jan. 3-6. In August 1991, the World Scout Jamboree will be held in Korea. A local Chief Scout recipient, Greg McClinchey, will be attending. Group Committee has been assist ing Greg to finance the trip through local fundraising and sponsor dona tions. Several fundraising ideas were discussed, including a district plan to organize a car rally May 4. Letters are going to be sent home to all parents to find out who would like to participate in this fun day. The next meeting of the Group Committee will be at the Blyth Public School Jan. 9. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. It is a good chance to acquire better insight into the opportunities avail able to their sons through the scouting program, and at the same time contribute fresh ideas on how to make the program even more valuable and effective.
