Brussels People Mr. and Mrs. Mel Jacklin had Mr. and Mrs. Ross Jacklin of Hespeler, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Jacklin of Stroud, Ont. and Ralf Rowland of Brussels as dinner guests on Sunday. They were celebrating an early Christmas. Deb Seili of Huron Feeding Systems in Brussels, notified the Brussels office last Thursday of a bit of information she thought people might find interesting about Legion dart results BY SANDRA JOSLING Results from the Brussels Legion Mixed Darts for Monday, Dec. 3 were Barb Elliott and Paul Willie first, Mary Ross and Adam Smith, second. High shooter for the ladies was Martha Logan and for the men was Dave McArthur. Darts are every Monday at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to play. Wednesday, Dec. 12 is Euchre Night at the Legion. Cards start at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $1.50 per person. Everyone is welcome. Crime of the Week THEFT On September 1 it was discover­ ed that sometime since August 31, 1990 a thief made off with material from a site at Lot 12, Cone. 12, Ashfield Township. Stolen were the following items: 1 - Exterior door, grey in colour with a window in it, Make: Golden; 1 - Skilsaw, Make Skil; 1 - Estwing 20 oz. hammer with blue handle; 1 - Stanley 25’ tape measure; 2 - Skil knives; 1 - nail set; 1 - Leather apron with 4 pouches. MISCHIEF On January 26, 1990 a large older model car, cream coloured drove by a residence in Lowertown Wingham, near the airport and a beer bottle was thrown, striking a satellite dish and breaking a panel out of the dish. BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT Someone broke into the Brussels Liquor Store overnight of March 9-10, 1989 and stole the following liquor: 4 - 40 oz. bottles Crown Royal whiskey; 2 - 40 oz. bottles Crown Royal whiskey; 3 - 26 oz. bottles Seagram’s 83 whisky; 1 - 40 oz. bottle Seagram’s 83 whiskey; 1 - 40 oz. bottle Golden Wedding whiskey; 2 - 40 oz. Beefeater gin; 2 - 62 oz. Captain Morgan rum; 1 - 40 oz. Lambs white rum; 4-40 oz. White Sailors rum; 3 - 26 oz. NOTICE RESIDENTS OF BRUSSELS There will be a change in garbage collection for Boxing Day. Garbage will be picked up on December 27 instead. The statement was dated 1986. • The Brussels-Walton Trail­ blazers Snowmobile Club recently completed its third driver instruc­ tion course for young people be­ tween the ages of 12 and 16. Qualified instructors teach the finer points of owning and operating a snowmobile in addition to safe driving techniques. Eight young people received their certificates after passing the final test. They are: Andrew Sproul, Jason Verstraeten, Robert Steiss, Steve Leonhardt, Jeffrey Zehr, Tricia Zehr, Kevin Grisdale and Lanette Todd. The next pubnight will be Fri­ day, Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the celebration of the holiday season. Tickets are now available for the •Legion New Year’s Eve dance; Tickets can be purchased at the Legion after 4 p.m. or at Murray’s Barber Shop. Cost is $10 per person. April has accepted a postiion with the accounting firm of Ernst and Young, London. She is the daughter of Ben 'and Chris TenPas of Brussels and a graduate of Clinton Christian School and F. E. Madill Secon­ dary School. St. Ambrose draw results St. Ambrose C.W.L. held a very successful bazaar Sat., Dec. 1 coinciding with the Santa Claus parade. The ladies had a wide variety of baking to satisfy every­ one’s taste. The penny auction was a big attraction. As well, tickets were on sale for a draw on an oak hall tree made by Murray and Shawn Blake. This was won by Linda Rush, RR 2, Listowel. A water color painting of Brus­ sels’ Dam done by Mrs. Judy Jones, RR 1, Listowel, was won by Mrs. Dorothea McArter. A ceramic Christmas tree made by Mrs. Jim Van De Walle, RR 1, Embro was won by Mrs. Barbar Guiho, Tim­ mins, Ont. A clown made by Anita Gouthro, Brussels was won by Barb McLellan. Jim Cline lit the second advent candle while Ezra Steckley gave a short reading. Pat Murphy of CKGL radio station gave a sermon on Rates will change in new year The impact of the GST will see small changes in the subscription and single-copy rates of The Citi­ zen beginning with the January 9 issue. As previously announced the one-year subscription rate will be $20.50 per year which includes a subscription rate of $19.16 plus $1.34 GST. The single copy rate on news stands will be 60 cents which includes 56 cents for the paper and four cents GST. The large number of people whose subscriptions are due in December can still save the GST if they renew their subscription be- fore our offices close for the holidays on Dec. 20 (2 p.m. in Brussels, 5 p.m. in Blyth). The congregation held the monthly pot-luck meal following the service. Afterwards the children practised for their upcoming Christmas program. Sunday evening adults and child­ ren gathered at the Church for the continuation of their video series. The youth went carolling with other youth of the area. Friday evening several of the youth attended the “Special Divisions” Concert in Goderich. Saturday evening they went bowling. Saturday evening Horst’s musical group provided music for a Coffee House at the Church Fellowship Hall.
