Obituaries HILLIARD JEFFERSON Hilliard (Pete) Jefferson passed away on Thursday, November 29, 1990 in Wingham and District Hospital at the age of 79. He farmed on the family farm near Donnybrook until a year ago, when he moved to Lucknow. He was a member of Donnybrook United Church. He was a former councillor and reeve of West Wawanosh township. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Thornton), his daughters, Louise Wilson of Nile, Mary Jefferson of Mississauga, Sharron Robinson of Lome Beach and Linda Kotack of Mississauga; a daughter-in-law Wanda Jefferson of Lucknow; eight grandchildren and one great­ grandchild. One sister, Margaret Leddy of Clinton also survives. He was predeceased by one son Robert (1990). He was also prede­ ceased by seven brothers. George, Cameron, Gordon, John, Charles, Joseph, and Sam, and three sisters Gladys, Irene, and Olive. A funeral service was held at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow on Saturday, December 1, 1990. Rev. Garth and Rev. Orilla Bogart conducted the funeral service. Pallbearers were Burt Robinson, Gene Kotack, Murray Wilson, Craig Jefferson, Scott Wilson and Darryl Wilson. Flower bearers were Teresa Jef­ ferson and Heather Jefferson. Interment in Greenhill Ceme­ tery. RUBY IRENE WEBSTER Ruby Irene Webster of Clinton and formerly of Stanley Township, died Thursday, November 22, 1990 at the Clinton Public Hospital. She was 88. The former Ruby Taylor, she was a daughter of the late William J. Taylor and former Emma Dowson. She was a school teacher, and a member of the Ontario Street United Church in Clinton, and a life member of the Varna United Church and its United Church Women group. Mrs. Webster is survived by two daughters, Margery and her hus­ band Ray Huether of RR 3, Walton and Nancy and her husband Jack (Pat) Holmes of Clinton; and one son, Mack and his wife Janet of RR 1, Varna. Also surviving are eight grand­ children: one sister Blanche (Mrs. Clarence Stephenson) of Hensail; and two brothers. Louis Taylor of Huronview and Robert Taylor of Clinton. Mrs. Webster was predeceased by her husband Watson (Wat) Webster; two sisters, Pearl (Mrs. Joe Wilton) and Fern (Mrs. Harry Baker and Mrs. Anson Coleman); and by five brothers, Russell, Garnet, Harold, Harvey and Lome Taylor. Friends called at the Beattie-Fal­ coner “Ball Chapel” and a funeral service was held on Sunday. The Reverend David Woodall officiat­ ed. Interment Baird’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Holmes, John Huether, Steven Huether, Mark Webster, Jeff Yankus and Adam Wilson Sr. Flower bearers were Margery Holmes, Kathy Hue­ ther, Brian Webster, Mary Ellen Webster and Mary Yankus. CLIFF COOK Cliff Cook of Gorrie passed away on Saturday, November 24, 1990 at Victoria Hospital in London. He was 77 years of age. Mr. Cook was the beloved hus­ band of the former Faith Wright. He will be mourned by his family: Fern and her husband Jim Wylie of Gorrie; and Nadine and her hus­ band Allan Steedman of Missis­ sauga. He will be dearly missed by his five grandchildren: Timothy Wylie, Mark, Paul and Darren Steedman, all of Mississauga and Stephen Wylie of Harriston; and his great-grandchildren Jennifer, Christine and Aaron Wylie, all of Mississauga. Mr. Cook was prede­ ceased by a son, Roger. A memorial service was held on Tuesday morning at Betts Funeral Home in Gorrie. Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Gorrie United church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. ELLEN ZUFELT Ellen Zufelt died on Saturday, November 24, 1990 at Hanover and District Hospital. She was the dear sister of John Inglis of Hanover and Jim Inglis of Clifford. Mrs. Zufelt will be mourn­ ed by her many nieces and ne­ phews. She was predeceased by her husband George and her son Warren. Mrs. Zufelt rested at Betts Funeral Home, Gorrie from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2p.m. Interment will take place at Gorrie Cemetery. The family requests that as expressions of sympathy donations be made to Macintosh United Church or a charity of one’s choice. JAMES ARNOLD DOIG James Arnold Doig, of Fordwich passed away at Palmerston and District Hospital on Sunday, November 25, 1990. He was in his 73rd year. The beloved husband of Mar­ jorie, Mr. Doig was past Master of Fordwich Lodge #331 AF & AM and manager of Bordens from 1954 to 1969. He was the loving father of Jim and Reta Doig of Harriston and Gerald and Elaine Doig of Listowel. He will be remembered by his grandchildren: Kim and Peter Uh- rig; Kevin and Darlene Doig, all of Harriston; and Brenda, Debra and Sandra Doig of Listowel.
