Phone 887-6677 Walton winner Ron Stevenson of Walton received the Vincent Farm Equipment Trophy as the top member in the Huron 4H Agricultural Machinery class held in Clinton November 23 at the Huron County 4H Awards night. Healso received the pin for completinq the six projects. 4-H clubs hold achievement night On Thursday evening, November 27 the 4H Achievement Night on “Our Heritage’’ was held at the Walton Hall with 4H clubs partici­ pating from McKillop, Seaforth, and Walton III. Jane Muegge, Rural Organiza­ tion Specialist welcomed the girls and guests and opened with the 4H pledge. Each club presented a skit. Guest speaker, Katie Bancroft demonstrated making dolls from wheat. Six club project awards were presented to Nancy Stewart of McKillop I and Kevin Wynja of Seaforth Club. Jane Schade receiv­ ed the five-year club leader award. 4H club members’ books and crafts were on display. Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal was in the pulpit for the first Sunday of Advent at Duff’s United Church. Children assisted with lighting the Candle of Hope. The church was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. The junior choir sang an anthem, “Hosanna, Hos­ anna’’. Graeme Craig read the People Derek Deane of Elmvale, his son Ronald Deane of Barrie, grandsons Shawn and Jeffery Deane of Toron­ to spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and attended the funeral of Mrs. Ruby Webster in Clinton on the Sunday, November 25. Mr. and Mrs. Allan Searle visited for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Saunders of Royal Oak, Michigan and the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday on November 22. The ladies are sisters. Ruth Thamer along with other members of her family were pre­ sent for a pre-Christmas get- together on Sunday, November 25 at the home of Volker and Shirley Hertlein of London. Country Heirs wrap up project The Walton III “Country Heirs’’ 4H club of the Our Heritage project had completed their meetings and made preparations for the Achieve­ ment Night. The leaders for the Walton Club were Ruth Schade and Jane Schade. Officers were Presi­ dent, Heather Billson; vice- president, Marci McCall; floating secretary. The club attended the Seaforth Ciderfest to see the pioneer setup. At another meeting Jane demon­ strated how to make boxes covered with fabric. Each member made one of their own and decorated it. Also each girl did some braiding, tin punching, candle making, soap carving, and craft of their own choice. They worked with grape- Continued on page 23 Minute of Mission. Flowers in the church were in memory of Jen McArthur, formerly of this community. Announcements for the coming week were: the U.C.W. Christmas pot luck meal at 6:30 p.m., Wed., Dec. 5 with members to bring items for Friendship House in Goderich; Junior choir practice Thursday, Dec. • 6, 4-5 p.m.; Senior Choir practice at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. Rehearsal for the Sunday School Christmas Concert is on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. Also on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 9:55 a.m. is the White Gift Service.
