Entertainment Lost Heir card party winners named Blyth Festival Singers celebrate 'Christmas in the Village9Dec. 8 The Blyth Festival Singers ush­ ers in the Christmas season with a family concert on Sunday, Decem­ ber 9 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Blyth Memorial Hall. Their internationally flavoured Christmas concerts have always been a favourite with crowds. “Christmas In the Village”, the theme for their Sunday concert features the Blyth Festival Singers and the Exeter Public School Junior Choir. Not only will audience members enjoy outstanding Christ­ mas music, but they’ll have the opportunity to singalong and sam­ ple a fine selection of Christmas baking and hot cider after the performance. Tickets are on sale now from Choir members and from Clinton Hospital Sale raises $5,000 the Blyth Festival Box Office - Advance tickets: Adults $5.00, Students $3.00 and children under 12 are free. Ticket Prices at the door: Adults $6.00, Students $3.50. The Blyth Festival Singers is a 40 voice community choir which has members from Belgrave, Belmore, Blyth, Brussels, Clinton, Ethel, Exeter. Goderich, Londesboro, Lucknow, Seaforth and Wingham. The choir is under the direction of Wade Whittaker-Cumming of Stratford and is accompanied by Carol Carter, organist and choir director at First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth. Special guests at the concert include the Exeter Public School Junior Choir under the direction of andJoan Perrie. Carol Carter Arlene Darnbrough of Goderich will perform a piano duet. Mary Hearn of Clinton will be featured playing the harp and conductor Wade Wittaker-Cumming will per­ form a classical guitar solo. Listen for Christmas musical treasures such as Silver Bells, Away In the Manger, Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, plus many more. It’s a concert filled with songs from many decades and special stories for the Christmas season and will delight people of all ages. Tickets to “Christmas In The Village” at the Blyth Memorial Hall on Sunday, December 9 may be purchased at the Blyth Festival Box Office - 523-9300. The meeting opened with the Auxiliary prayer and words of welcome from president Patricia. The draw for the quilt was made. President Patricia made special thanks to Margaret Middleton who brought this idea to the Auxiliary and was most instrumental in making the quilt and taking it from place to place to sell tickets. Margaret and her committee and faithful helpers on this project, made over $1,400 to go towards the pledge of $15,000 to the X-ray equipment. The “Travelling Quilt” was won by lucky winner, Bill Garrett. Special thanks to all those who supported this and made such a successful project a reality. Doreen Nagalo reported that the gift shop has received many arti­ cles of knitting, which they are most grateful for. The long care patients have worked for some time making articles for a bazaar, to be held upstairs in the hospital, on Novem­ ber 30. Everyone is welcome to come to this and do some Christ­ mas shopping. The final figure of money raised for this year’s penny sale was just over the $5,000, making it the best yet. Darryl Bromley put Blyth up 2-0, assisted by Greg Blok and Mike Haggitt. Michael Ansely fired a bullet past the Stephen goalie, jumping on a rebound by Jeff Cowan. One of these services is the portering service and it was noted that the hours have been changed to 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. instead of 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Doreen DeJong reported that the teen volunteers had met in the cafeteria for their meeting and had learned about fire safety in the hospital. Orientation was held for two new girls on October 18. Attending the convention will be four teen volunteers, and on Nov­ ember 14 they will be having a pizza party and touring the X-ray department. Looking ahead to the Christmas season, plans were made for the decorating of the hospital, and ideas for gifts for the patients. number five on a break-away. Darryl Bromley drew the assist. Shane Burkholder played a solid game in net supporting an all- around good team effort. Blyth’s next game will be against Seaforth on Saturday, December 1, at 12:15 p.m. in the Blyth Com­ munity Centre.
