Crusaders rebound to defeat Drayton 9-7 Sunday Sunday afternoon saw the Cru­ saders travel to Drayton for a game with the Comets. Drayton opened the scoring just under five minutes into the first period. Brussels came back to tie Blyth Atoms tie Milverton 4-4 The Blyth Atoms took to the ice in Milverton on Monday, Novem­ ber 19, and battled out a wide-open 4-4 tie. Blyth took an early lead with Darryl Bromley scoring on a re­ bound by Mark Wilson. Shane Burkholder put Blyth up by two, with Trent Richmond and Mike Ansley picking up the assists. However Milverton came back with two, setting up a wild third period. Mike Haggitt, set up by Darryl Bromley, started the scoring action giving Blyth a 3-2 edge against Blyth Tykes storm to 7-2 win over Hensail On Nov. 24 the Blyth Tykes hosted Hensail for their third game this year. Matt Anderson came out flying to open the scoring for Blyth with two very quick goals. Hensail stormed back with one goal but even with their sharp goaltending fell to defeat with Blyth winning 7-2. The Blyth Tykes played well in the score at one when Ken Cousins set up Brian Campbell for the goal. The Crusaders took the lead 24 seconds later when Cousins scored on a play set up by Rob Cardiff and Dave Stephenson. They increased their opponents. But again Milver­ ton evened out the game. With four minutes left to play Blyth again took the lead, Darryl Bromley scoring his second goal of the game assisted by David Craig and Mike Ansley. However, Milverton did not give up, with 1:17 left in the game and the play wide-open they came back and tied the game, making the final score 4-4. Drayton then scored once more before the end of the period to make the score 4-2 in favour of the Crusaders. Drayton came out of the dressing room for the second period ready to play some hockey as they scored four straight goals to take a 6-4 lead over the Crusaders. Brussels came back to cut the lead to one. With only 11 seconds left on the clock, Brian Campbell took a pass from Ken Cousins and went in to beat the Drayton goalie. Rob Cardiff drew the other assist on the play. The second period ended with Drayton holding a 6-5 lead. Brussels came out for the third looking to tie the game up quickly and they did, just 25 seconds into the period when Ken Cousins and Dave Stephenson set up Brian Campbell for the equalizer. The Crusaders regained the lead seven minutes later when the same combination worked together this time. Stephenson scored with Campbell and Cousins drawing the assist on the play. Brussels then added to their lead when Rob Cardiff and Jamie Robinson com­ bined to send Kevin Deitner in for the score. They then made it a three-goal margin when Ken Cousins set up Dave Stephenson for the Crusa­ ders’ final goal of the game. The Crusaders’ next action is Saturday night when they play host to Palmerston for an 8 p.m. start. Then Sunday they will travel to Grand Valley for a 7:30 p.m. game.
