Phone 523-4360 ‘Faith’ theme of service Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, November 25 were Jack and Helen Lee. Ushers were Christy Scott, Debbie Hog­ gart, Denise Hulley and Darryl Bergsma. Rev. Paul Ross talked to the children about “Faith”. The ser­ mon topic was “Fanning the Fire of Faith”. Hullett passes weight restriction by-law Hullett road superintendent Jim Johnston was instructed by Council at its November 20 meeting to contact Ontario Hydro asking them to relocate the hydro lines on sideroad 20/21, Cone. 13-14 to allow for road construction in 1991. Council concurred with a recom­ mendation from North Himsworth Township concerning the passing of legislation for a ban and reduc­ tion of packaging materials. Authorization was given to the Seaforth and District Community Centre for the transfer of $2,300 from Capital Reserves to the Cur­ rent Operating Fund for the pur­ chase of a new pop cooler. It was agreed that Chris Kiar be instructed to prepare and submit the survey to the Director of Land Titles to affix the boundaries on sideroad 30/31, Cone. 10. A by-law was passed for a weight restriction over the Taylor Bridge. Council instructed Clerk Bev Shaddick to send a letter to the Londesboro Lions Club thanking them for the donation for Minor Ball and fireworks. The Junior Youth Group will meet for swimming at Vanastra on Friday, November 30, 7 - 8 p.m. Cost is $2.25. They will return to Rev. Ross’ for devotions and a snack. The Work and Life Committee meets at the Manse Monday, November 26 at 8:30 p.m. The congregational pot luck dinner is next Sunday after church. The Session will meet on Tues­ day, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m. followed by a meeting of the board at 9 p.m. The Bible Study and Prayer Group will meet Tuesday afternoon November T1 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Ruth Vincent. The ecumenical Christmas ser­ vice will be held on December 16 in Blyth United Church. Practices for the mass choir will be held on Nov. 28, Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. in Blyth United Church. The November meeting of Londesboro U.C.W. was held at the church on Monday evening, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. The meeting opened with the Purpose and the Worship Service. Mary Peel opened the meeting with Hymn 301 “O Master let me walk with Thee”. Her theme was Reve­ lations. Hymn 496 was repeated in unison. Mary closed with prayer. Kitty McGregor took over the business. Thank you’s were read from Seaforth Hospital, Clinton Public Hospital, the Day Care Centre and Community of Concern. A thank you was read from Norma Giousher. The minutes of the October meeting were read and approved. Dorothy Tamblyn gave the treasur- er’s report. It was moved by Joan Whyte seconded by Reta Kelland that the U.C.W. will pay for the vacuum for the church. The meet­ ing closed with prayer. Tray favours were Christmas Day meal Hospital. Lunch was Joan Whyte, Florence Cartwright, Betty Archambault, June Fother­ gill and Yvonne Hoggart. Shuffleboard made for at Clinton served by Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Central School on Wednesday evening, Nov. 21. There were 13 people present. High lady was Betty Dale and high man, Bob Thompson. Attention all ladies of the com­ munity: The Christmas meeting of Londesboro U.C.W. will be held at the church on Monday, December 3. It will begin with a pot luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Everyone please bring an article of non- perishable food for Friendship House in Goderich. Guest speaker will be Valerie Millson who will speak on her trip to Nigeria. REGULAR OR LIGHT 2.39 Crime of the Week THEFT OF CIGARETTES Overnight of October 30-31, 1990 a thief broke into the Redwood Restaurant in Clifford, Ontario through an open side window into the kitchen and once inside stole $100 worth of mixed chocolate bars, $250 in change and small bills including a container from World Vision and another from the Save The Children Fund'. The perpetra­ tor also stole a 1.3 cu. ft. micro­ wave oven, along with 20 almond chocolate bars and 20 boxes of chocolate coated almonds which were for a fund raiser for the John Diefenbaker High School.
