This Acton Sabre falls after deflecting the puck away from his net during the action of Sunday’s Bulls
game. The action was weak on the home front as first as the Sabres scored two goals during the first
period. The Bulls held them there, however, and came back to defeat them 6-2.

Blyth team loses to Goderich
Junior “C” action this weekend
had the Brussels Bulls playing the
Acton Sabres.
Fifty-plus young Bulls showed
up for the first Brussels minor
hockey game of the year. Acton
opened the scoring at 11:32 of the
first on a goal by highly-scouted
Jeff Shevalier of Acton with assists
going to Jason Lucas and Mike
McElroy, a power play marker.
Acton scored their second power
play goal of the period as Mike
Brooks scored from Jeff Shevalier
and Jason Lucas at 4:26 to round
out the first period scoring. The
visiting Sabres outshot the Bulls
7-6 and held a 2-0 lead.
The Bulls finally got on the score
sheet at 13:17 of the second as
Greg McNevan scored on a pass
from Steve Fritz and Joe Walker.
The Bulls’ hard work got the score
tied at two as Brett Martin scored
on a pass from Corey McKee and
Joe Walker at 7:49. Bulls outshot
Acton 11-3 in the second and had
tied the score at two.
As in previous games the third
period was all Bulls as their mighty
PeeWees win

The Blyth Pee Wees played three
games last week, winning two and
losing one.
Blyth hosted Mitchell II on
Monday, November 12 and played
the part of an ungracious host with
an 8-1 win. Brad Anderson led the
onslaught as he recorded the
hat-trick and added two assists.
Christopher Howson chipped in a
goal but, more importantly, record
ed three assists. Ryan Chamney
scored two goals to go with two
assists. Benjie Hakkers also scored
two goals while Jason Rutledge,
with two, Greg Toll and Michael
Salverda added assists.
Wednesday, November 14 had
the Pee Wee’s travel to Zurich
where they won game number two
on the week 5-2.
Ryan Chamney split the defence
and fed Jason Rutledge who gave
Blyth a 1-0 lead midway through
the first period. Twelve seconds
later Christopher Howson and Ben
jie Hakkers teamed up on anice
passing play with Christopher giv
ing Blyth a 2-0 lead.
Blyth scored two more goal in the
second period. Brad Anderson
scored on a long screen shot after a
set up from Shawn Hakkers and
Christopher Howson. One and a
half minutes later Michael Salverda
and Tim Cowan sent Jason Rut
ledge down the right-wing boards
offence got rolling as Jeff McKee
scored at 18:19 on a pass from
Craig King and Bevin Flett. At
10:35 Corey McKee scored a
picture goal as he turned the
defenceman inside out and then
deked the goalie for the Bulls’
fourth goal of the game. Marty
Rutledge notched his 16th goal of
the year on a pass from linemates
Steve Fritz and Jeff McKee at
10:04. Jason Baier closed out the
scoring for the Bulls at 5:03 with
assists going to Corey McKee and
Paul Brophy. The final score was
Bulls 6, Sabres 2. Scott Thede
played a strong game in the net for
the Bulls as he turned aside 19
shots. The Bulls 12-1 record goes
on the line this weekend as they
host the All-Ontario Jr C Champion
Orangeville Crushers Sunday at 2
p.m. It promises to be a very
exciting, fast-skating game. The
Bulls first weekly lottery draw
winner was Lonny Zehr of Tavi
stock who received $50. There are
still a few tickets available for the
weekly draw and grand prize of
$1,000.

in the game but Michael Salverda
put the game away for Blyth with
the only goal of the third period.
Jason Rutledge and Ryan Chamney
set Michael up in the slot for his
powerplay goal which he quickly
one-timed past the Zurich puck
stopper.
Blyth then travelled to Milverton
on Friday, November 16 where
they ended the week as Milverton
shaded their visitors 2-1.
Blyth started the game slowly,
which was in direct contrast to the
ride to the game some un-named
team members took.
Milverton scored a short-handed
goal three and a half minutes into
the game and increased the lead to
2-0 before the first period ended.
The teams battled back and forth
before Benjie Hakkers cut the lead
in half with 13 seconds left in the
second period. Benjie finished off a
three-way passing play with Jason
Rutledge and Shawn Hakkers.
Blyth pulled their goalie in the final
minute for an extra attacker and
they swarmed the Milverton net
but were unable to count the
equalizer. Call ups Rob Johnston
and Jason McDougall played a
solid two-way game for the Pee
Wees as they more than held their

Blyth Pee Wee “B”s lost to a
strong Goderich team Wednesday
night.
Goderich jumped out to a quick
3-0 lead and dominated the first
two periods. Blyth came out flying
in the third period out-scoring the
Goderich squad 1-0. The score
ending up Goderich 3, Blyth 1. The
lone goal scorer was Kirk Krieger
assisted by Chad Haggitt.
On Saturday Blyth travelled to
Tykes play second yame
The Blyth Tykes played their
second game of the season at home
on November 14 against the Bel
grave Tykes.
Although Matt Anderson opened
the scoring with two fast goals they
were soon answered by Belgrave.
Scoring see-sawed, back and
forth with the end result - Belgrave
10 and Blyth 6.

Clinton and played a very strong
game. They defeated the Clinton
team 5-2. Goal scorers were David
Campbell, Kirk Krieger, Fred Da-
tema, John Armstrong and Brian
Marks. Assists went to David
Campbell and Jason McDougall,
two apiece; Fred Datema and Brian
Marks, one each. Chris Bromley
played a good game in net for the
Blyth boys. Next home game is
Wednesday night at 7 o’clock
against Goderich.
The Blyth Tykes shared goal
tending duties and all played well
against the more aggressive Bel
grave team.
