Phone 523-4360 United Church holds anniversary service Sunday was Anniversary Sunday at Londesboro Church. Guest speaker was Professor Bill Andrews of Toronto. Greeters were Ron and Marguerite Gross. Ushers were Scott Shaddick, Billy Jim Scott, Danny Hoggart, and Kevin Shillinglaw. The choir sang a hymn medley and Father Almighty. Mr. An­ drews’ sermon topic was “A Chris­ tian Response to Environmental Issues”. During the offering an organ and piano duet were played by Gail Lear and Sara Lyons. Senior Youth Group meets Thursday, Nov. 22 in Hullett Central School from 7 - 9 p.m. for volleyball. The Work and Life Committee will meet Monday, November 26 in the Sunday School at 8:30 p.m. The floral arrange­ ment at the front of the church was Lee in ' and presented by Jack and Helen l loving memory of family friends. The November meeting of Londesboro Women’s Institute was held at the Hall on Wednesday evening, November 14 at 8 p.m. Lois Elliott chaired the meeting in place of President Marjorie Ander­ son. The Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and “O Canada” was repeated and sung. Lois read a poem “Minutes of Gold”. Roll call was answered with name a bird you have seen recent­ ly. The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. Helen Lawson gave the financial statement. Correspondence was read from the Blood Donors Clinic at Clinton on November 21 at CHSS gym and an appeal from the Children’s Aid Society. A course “Forms, Facts and Figures” will be held at Centralia College on November 27. A letter was read from Hullett Council about the Pride Programme. Blyth Centre for the Arts annual meeting Tuesday, November 27 at 7 p.m. at Blyth Gallery. A thank you was read from Anne Kroesen for a gift for a 45th anniversary. It was decided to give $50 to the Children’s Bureau and $10 to Blyth Poppy Fund. Josephine MacGregor and June Fothergill will help with the euchre on November 30. The Christmas meeting is on December 12 with a pot luck dinner at 12 noon. Helen Lawson gave a report on the London area Convention at Exeter on October 11. Lois thanked Helen for her report on the London area Convention. Collection and Pennies were taken up. Guest speaker was Mr. Chris Hills. He spoke and showed pictures about bird feeding and watching. This one hour video was very interesting and informative. Lois Elliott thanked him and pre­ sented him with a gift. The Queen and Grace was sung. Lunch was served by Beryl Reid, Hazel Reid and Helen Lawson. 12 play Couple returns shuffleboard Cheerio Club meets (MORRISzYOU SSHIPW _ —NOTICE Jack and Helen Lee enjoyed a weekend bus trip to Renfro Valley in Kentucky this past weekend. Friends and neighbours of Mr. Gordon Shobbrook will be glad to hear he is recovering in Victoria Hospital, South Street Campus, following heart surgery. The best wishes of the community are extended to him for a speedy recovery. Cliff and Kay Saundercock cele­ brated their 45th wedding anniver­ sary at the Clinton Legion on Saturday, November 17. Ted and June Fothergill attend­ ed a birthday party for her sister Helen Marks of Royal Terrace, Palmerston at the home of another sister Carol and Bill Gilmore of Gowanstown. Shuffleboard was held at Hullett Public School on Wednesday even­ ing, November 14 at 8 p.m. There were 12 people present. High lady was Geraldine Dale and high man, Lome Dale. Shuffle­ board is held each Wednesday. The November meeting of the Cheerio Club was held on Wednes­ day afternoon, November 14 at 2 p.m. at the home of Vietta Hog­ garth. Clara Riley opened the meeting with a poem “use your Loaf’. Seven members answered the roll call and one visitor was present. Minutes of the October meeting were read. The financial report was were taken up. The draw donated by Vietta Hoggarth was won by Laura Lyon. Mary Longman had a contest. Everyone had to take a wrapper off a prize, one layer at a time. The winners were Hazel Reid and Estella Adams. Clara read pieces about “Birds” and “The Way We Were”. Cards were played. Lunch was money served by Clara Riley, Mary Long man and Vietta Hoggarth. NANCY MICHIE CLERK-TREASURER Euchre results The first Women’s Institute euchre of the season was held at the hall on Friday evening, Novem­ ber 16. There were 10 tables of euchre. Winners were: ladies’ high, Mar­ garet Taylor; ladies’ lone hands, Hazel Reid; ladies’ low, Dora Shobbrook; men’s high, Jean Scott (playing as a man); men’s lone hands, Harvey Dolmage; men’s low, Lloyd Appleby. Hullett Happenings THE GRADE EIGHT BEANHEADS by Becky Wilkinson Starting on Monday, October 29, Mr. Millson’s grade eight class began their mathematical bean study. They worked with white, Faba and Soya beans provided by the Hensall District Co-op located in Londesboro. They occupied their math time working with graphs, percentages, probability and other basic math skills. When the project was completed, the students decid­ ed to make bean soup to share with the school, so on November 8 delicious bean soup and tea bis- buits baked by Mr. Park’s Kinder­ garten class and Mrs. Pietsch’s grade one/two class were served to the school and some guests from the Co-op.
