Afternoon Unit appoints officers for upcoming year
The Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W
met on the above date with nine
ladies present and Mrs. Sara
Anderson in charge.
The meeting opened with the
following quotation ‘‘He hath
showed thee O Man what is good
and what doth the Lord require of
thee but to do justly and to love
mercy and to walk humbly with thy
God”, and the singing of the hymn,
“My Country ’tis of Thee”.
Mrs. Helen Martin read for
meditation “A Food for Thought
for each day of the week with
London woman visits
connotations from the Bible”.
Mrs. Janisa Coultes for Bible
Study further described the life of
four women who were included in
the genealogy of Christ. There was
Rachael a harlot of Jericho at the
time of Joshua. After marrying
once of the spies Rachal became
ancestress in the royal line from
which Jesus came.
Then there was Ruth a Moa-
bitess. When her mother-in-law
decided to return to her home in
Moab, Ruth declared true friend
ship to go with her. A Gentile by
birth Ruth became the chosen line
through which the Saviour of the
world appeared. Bathsheba was
involved in a plot to have her
husband, a leader in David’s army
Alicia Makas of London visited
for a few days with her grandmoth
er Mrs. Mabel Wheeler.
Visiting at the home of Mrs.
Elizabeth Procter, Belgrave Sun
day were Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Zettler, Sherry, Amanda and Alicia
of RR 4, Walkerton. Also the same
day visiting with Mr. and Mrs.
Larry Mayberry and family of
Londesboro were Mrs. Elizabeth
Procter and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Hanna of Belgrave.
Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Douse of
Cambridge (Galt) were Sunday
visitors at the home of their cousins
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Edgar.
Mr. and Mrs. Tibor Oravec and
Kristin of Stratford visited on
Saturday with Mrs. Mabel Whee
ler.

14 tables at euchre
Area youth escapes in jury
Fourteen tables were in play at
the weekly euchre which was held
in the W.I. Hall, Belgrave, Wed
nesday, November 14.

A Blyth area youth escaped
injury after his 1979 Fork pickup
lost control on an icy road in East
Wawanosh Township early Novem
ber 11.
A spokesperson from the Wing
ham OPP said that 19-year-old
Dean Whitfield of RR 3, Blyth was
travelling along on Sideroad 39/40
just 11 meters north of Cone. 6/7 at
3 a.m. Mr. Whitfield, who was
travelling north was braking to
make a right turn when the truck
went out of control on the ice and
slide into a hydro pole, the spokes
person said.
Mr. Whitfield’s vehicle sustain
ed moderate damage.

The amount of property tax (municipal and school) you will pay on your
home or business in 1991 is determined by multiplying your assessed value by
the mill rate, which is calculated by your municipality. The mill rate is based
on the financial needs of your municipality, county or region, and school board.

Notice of Property Valuation
Notices of Property Valuation are mailed to property owners and tenants,
prior to the delivery of the Assessment Roll, only if any of the information
relating to their property assessment has changed during the past year, such
as the assessed value, school support or address; or if they appealed their
1989 property assessment.
Information Open Houses
Whether or not you received a Notice of Property Valuation, you may have
questions about your property assessment. If you do, please come to an infor
mation Open House. An assessor from the Ministry of Revenue's Regional
Assessment Office will be available to explain your assessment, answer your
questions, and change any inaccurate information relating to your property.
If you have questions but can't make it to an Open House, please call or visit
the Regional Assessment Office.
The date and location of the Open House in your municipality and the
address of the Regional Assessment Office are listed below.
Appealing Your Assessment
If you are still dissatisfied with your assessment after going to an Open House
or contacting the Regional Assessment Office, you may appeal to the Assess
ment Review Board. The appeal must be filed within twenty-one days after
the delivery of the Assessment Roll.
To file an appeal, please use the form on the back of your Notice of Property
Valuation, write a letter, or use a Notice of Appeal form. This form and the
address of the Assessment Review Board are available at Open Houses, the
Regional Assessment Office, and your municipal office.
The final date for appealing your 1990 assessment is January 8, 1991.
