In the past week, two conserva tion areas, Wawanosh Park, locat ed along the Maitland River in the East Wawanosh Township, and Pioneer Conservation Area, in Bluevale, have been vandalized. “We would like to encourage anyone with information about incidents of vandalism to contact the MVCA”, said Dave Grummett, Maitland Valley Conservation Authority, Director of Operations. “If you see vandalism occurring contact the OPP immediately,” said Mr. Grummett. “The increas ed maintenance and repair work caused by these incidents is a real concern”. The cost of maintaining conser vation areas is borne by local municipalities. At Wawanosh Park, a day use and camping area, damage done on the weekend of November 3 and 4 included smashing the windows and doors in the park gatehouse, damaging lawns with vehicles, and spreading garbage.
