Phone 887-6677 Memorial gifts dedicated at Duff's United Church All Saints Sunday was well attended at Duffs United Church Sunday morning. Ray and Margery Huether greet­ ed the worshippers. Organist was Glenda Carter and Jr. choir pianist, Marion Godkin. Ushers were Allan Searle, Emmerson Mitchell and Ray Huether. Everyone was invited downstairs after the service for muffins and coffee, sponsored by the senior Sunday School class. Rev. Bonnie Cole Arnal conduct­ ed the service. Her sermon was “Called to be Saints”. A time of remembrance was held with Dedi­ cation of Memorial Gifts presented: a music stand in memory of Jim Carter; choir gowns, in memory of Annie Reid and Anne Smith; piano lamp in memory of Joyce van Vliet. Babies baptized were: Christo­ pher Lawrence Holmes, son of Rick and Sue and Andrew John van Vliet, son of John and Dianne. Graeme Craig participated with the lighting of candles. Rick Holmes and Sue Hannon were welcomed as new members into the church. The Junior choir sang an anthem, “Growing in God’s Way”. “Take Time to be Holy” was the anthem sung by members of the senior choir. The board meeting for this month was held at the home of Gloria and Keith Wilbee on Sunday evening. This Wednesday is the turkey smorgasbord at Duffs, sup­ per served from 4:30 till 7:00 p.m. Students take nature tour Students at Walton Public School are now into their third month of studies for this year’s term and very proud of their new room that was added last year. It gives more opportunities for the students and more space for the office and Resource Centre. In the recent activities a group of 26 from Grade 2-3 went on a nature hike to Wawanosh, on Oct. 16. They studied about tender twigs, learned to recognize common trees and the children did leaf and bark rubbings. Thanks was extended from Laura Scott the teacher to the mothers that went along to help: Brenda Dalton, Maxine Houston, JoAnn McDonald, Joanne Mc­ Clure, Judy Emmrich and Judy Giousher. On October 17, those children participating in the cross-country run. Girls taking part were Alicia Dalton, Melissa Dube, Jillian Houston, Sandra McNichol, and Teresa Pryce. The boys taking part were Bradley Sommerville, Brian Hawks, Dennis Rickhoff and Brian Dolmage. The teacher reported WI news The November meeting of the Walton Women’s Institute has been changed to the home of Berva Watson. The speaker, Druscilla Leitch will show a film and speak on Osteoporosis. The hot luncheon will still be held at the hall at noon, further news on that next week. they did very well when they completed in the 3 km. run. Date change In last week’s issue the Walton Area Sports Variety night was given as Nov. 16 but should have been the following Friday evening, Nov. 23. The Award is made possible by the Women’s Institutes of Ontario in memory of Adelaide Hoodless. Pam is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Nolan of Walton and is in her second year at Guelph. CRAIG HACKWELL Craig Hackwell, son of Merton and Doreen Hackwell, RR 4, Walton, graduated from Fan- shaweCollegeinLondonon Nov. 2, 1990 with a Construction Engineering Technology Man­ agement Degree.
